Hi, I'm fairly new to ecigarettes and everything it encompasses but I'm steadily learning more about it everyday and it has been an enjoyable experience researching eliquids, mods, tanks etc.

I recently bought my dad and myself an eGo-c starter kit (not the c twist) along with some Evod glass clearos to get ourselves acquainted with how ecigs work. It's an okay setup but it is good enough for us for the time being. So far this setup has worked well enough with some Heather's Heavenly Vape juice (Heavenly Tobacco, Mocha Java Smooth, Legend, Dragon's Fire). The flavors, depth, and vapor were all there. I decided to try out some more flavors so I ordered some Nicoticket juice (Virus, Custard's Last Stand, Betelgeuse) but OOTB the juices were very one dimensional in flavor and I could barely taste anything. I was surprised because of the many good reviews I read about the complexity and quality of Nicoticket's juices.

So my questions are:

  • Is it my setup that is unable to process the flavors of Nicoticket's juices (but can do so with HHV juice)?
  • I have a weak palate/taste buds, so that may be the problem?
  • The batch from Nicoticket I received is fairly new so perhaps I need to steep and breath the juice before I can taste anything?
  • I'm looking into mechanical mods like the Stingray and Nemesis clones for myself but I'm afraid these mech mods will be too finicky and troublesome for my dad who works long hours and a greenhorn when it comes to new tech. What are your suggestions for my dad? Something easy to use and maintain, hits hard, and lasts for years.

That's a pretty decent setup I think. Evods are good tanks. I am not familiar with your brands of juice, but it could be that the new ones need steeping. Let them sit with the caps off and shake the living crap out of them when you walk by. Let them sit like this for a couple of days or a week and try and see if the flavors don't suit better.

Not sure you need to move to mechanicals and RDA/RBA so soon. There are a number of very very good variable voltage/variable wattage mods out like the Hanas, the iTaste MVP, Provari etc that are much less fiddly than mech mods.

The two things that you can accomplish with mech mods that you may not be able to accomplish with VV/VW mods are sub ohm coils and replaceable batteries.

Welcome to ECF
your problem can be all the questions asked
•Is it my setup that is unable to process the flavors of Nicoticket's juices (but can do so with HHV juice)? POSSIBLE
•I have a weak palate/taste buds, so that may be the problem? ??? Maybe, Maybe not so much
•The batch from Nicoticket I received is fairly new so perhaps I need to steep and breath the juice before I can taste anything? POSSIBLE

I would think if your taste buds can do well with other flavors you would be ok with pretty much any. I know for me while I was a smoker many thing had o flavor and I didn't care for much of the food I ate. after quitting. I can taste many flavors at once and can pick out certain notes easily. But there are now things I liked while smoking that I no longer like. If you can taste other juice well, your issue isn't vapors tongue so that's out. I would try steeping the juice,

1:
when you stop smoking your tastebuds can go on a bit of a roller coaster for a while; don't spend too much on too many eliquids; best to get a small amount at a time; pg/vg ratio is important, and taste is strongly affected by your hardware; so you might not like one ejuice today, then 3 months later when you upgrade your hardware, its like you can finally taste it.
2:
your tastebuds are likely to change. drink lots of water.
3:
Might need steeping; check for a 'born on' date on the bottle.
Try to keep liquids flavors simple so you dont end up buying stuff that needs alot of steeping
4:
For new users, get regulated mods; mechs are important to have for backup, but battery safety knowledge is especially important with mechs.
