If all you have are Protanks, I'd recommend a Vivi Nova. It'll help you get familiar with the top coil/long wick system that many people prefer. It's just a good solid tank for about $10-11. The standard tank tube is poly-carbonate, so it may be susceptible to cracking or clouding with acidic juices (sours, citrus, etc)...but you can purchase interchangeable aluminum tank tubes for the Vivi that are resistant for about $4 or $5. Worth it.

Thanks for the input. If I try anything lower cost it will be an EVOD. I was wondering if I should stick with the Protank, move up to a Tatroe tank, or consider an RBA.

ah gotcha. next level. been playing with an Octopus RDA a bit myself. been working with a few DCT's also but am having difficulty finding the right carto to work with. this hobby never stops evolving....

I just picked up a pyrex dct and the locking Udct. The stock dual coil cartos were ok, but I've found I like the single coil smoktech DCT cartos, with one factory punch.

To OP- it kind of depends on how technical you want to get, really. RBA's are suppose to be a really great experience, but it takes a lot of trial and error(from what I gather, not there yet either ;)
If you just want something that can hold more juice, I'd suggest a cartotank. There are tons of different ones out there but they all really do the same thing.

Go with the Tatroe! You'll be glad you did. I use mine for when i'm out of the house, use the glass version when i'm home. The Tatroe is bombproof. No leaking. Only negative thing i can say is that the flavor seem a little muted. Draw is good for me and nice clouds. The flavor thing may be my fault. I rebuild my coils with 24 gauge kanthall at .09 to 1.0 ohm and i'm useing cotton for wick. Maybe i'll switch the wick to ss mesh or silica. Not that it's not good with cotton wick, just want to push it to see how much more flavor i can get. Been using the Protank/Tatroe for about a week. Beats the heck out of my vivi nova (retired). I put it up there with my RSST or Igo-l. Different, but just as good!
