Hi, everyone

First off, I am very glad I found this place - it is so awesome on so many levels!

I am six days smoke free today! I was very skeptical about e-cigarettes following a really bad experience with a disposable Blu cig I had bought at Walgreens. Now I got a starter kit from V2, and I am thoroughly enjoying the experience so far. I haven't had any craving for a "real" cigarette. I only found this forum later, so now you guys got me wondering if I should explore more :) I'd like to do that in small steps, if possible without having to get completely new set-up right off the bat.

As far as I understand, my V2s are just branded KR808D-1 e-cigs. They do state, however, that their batteries and cartos are of a "superior design". Hence, my questions which I admit may be quite dumb, but I'd be happy if I could get answers to those that make at least a lick of sense...

- can I buy pre-filled KR808 cartos from other suppliers and use them with my V2 batteries?

- is there a way to try "dripping" with my current setup (my current best guess from reading around here is that I could buy a 901 atomizer which is supposedly compatible, and direct drip onto it - am I correct?); I'd like to try out new flavors and it seems a good way to do it, rather than filling up lots of blank cartos...

- is there an intrinsic advantage to the "510 system" (I seem to see that a majority of users here use 510, but I couldn't figure out how it is superior to 901 or even KR808; in fact, some reviewers seem to agree that 510 "burn hotter and alter flavor" --> me confused); if so, does it make any sense to find a KR808->510 adapter and try out a 510 atomizer / cartomizer / clearomizer / fluxomizer (kill-me-know!!!!) with my KR808?

On this last point - I also have the V2 USB passthrough which they state works at 5V, so I'm wondering if that poses any issues with what *-izers I could use.

Last but not least, is there a way to get one of those big "mod" batteries and be able to use them flexibly enough that I could try out all of the above, but still be able to use my KR808 cartos on them?

Thanks and sorry for being so clueless...

elf, what was your experience specifically regarding the Blu? Just curious as I bought a dispo one the other day, liked it pretty well, but for me the taste was less menthol (the kind I like) and more pipe tobacco flavored imo.

Good amount of vapor from my other three cig-styles though, but didn't last nearly as long as the "equivalent to about 2 packs of cigarettes" they claim. In my experience it was more like 1/2 to 3/4 of a pack!

I'll answer these two: you can use any atty/carto with your pass-through but you won't need to use LR ones. You can use any standard resistence or dual coil cartos with the PT. However, DO NOT plug your PT into your computer as you could easily damage your computer and you will not be getting true 5 volt performance. You will need a 5 volt/2 amp USB to AC wall adapter like this one: 2 amp AC to USB Adapter, ideal for Passthroughs

Your idea to get a better battery model is a good one. E-Power 510, Kgo or the 5 volt GLV2 would all be very good upgrades. And although all of these come with 510 connectors, you can still use all your 808 cartos by getting a $3 adapter like this: Adapters

Rule of Thumb: the more it looks like the real thing, the worse the performance.

That disposable gave me little vapor (I'd say 1/3 of what I get now with a manual V2). It may be because it was auto and I didn't really know how to use it. The flavor was bland and there was an annoying, lingering very sweet aftertaste. It was the "regular", i.e. not menthol kind. It died very quickly, too - half a day, maybe?... The V2 cartos last me quite a bit, I don't think they come close to the advertised "replaces 1 pack", though. I found that there is some variability in how well they are filled and I even got one that was totally dry...

Thank you, wv2win. Great info to start with.

I think I'd like a battery that gives out 5V simply because right now I get the best experience with my passthrough. Hope I'll find more guidance this way.

You also helped me (I think) figure out why my passthrough doesn't work well in my car -- the lighter adapter they gave me is 1 amp and so I'll guess I'll have to find a 2 amp one...

If you like 5 volt vaping, like so many of us veterans do, and want portablity, then I would suggest either getting a good variable wattage model like the Darwin or getting what many consider the best 5 volt model on the market, the 5 volt GLV2. I use the Darwin exclusively now. Here are the sites:

5 volt GLV2: GLV-2 Electronic Cigarette [GLV-2] - $120.00 : Electronic Cigarettes and E-Liquid - Great Lakes Vapor (lifetime warranty)

Variable wattage Darwin: Nhaler (full 2 year warranty)

Good Luck

Hi Elf and welcome. I started with the V2 also, and was very pleased with it. As someone here told me, I outgrew it quickly! I do love the passthrough however and use it daily. Any 808 cartridge will fit it, but they seem to vape-out faster. It's pretty easy to refill them though, so that doesn't bother me too much. Refilling them has become quite a little hobby for me, I find it relaxing. Now I've upgraded to an Elite 808 from CigEasy and I totally love this thing! It's all about simplicity for me and this thing is awesome! My cartos from V2 fit it, but the carto's that come with the Elite are much bigger and hold more juice,,, like twice the amount so I'm not refilling as often. I'm not crazy about the drip-tip that comes with the Elite cartos and wish they'd make the standard little button on the end.. I find if you don't store it upright you'll get a mouthful of juice... ick! But I put up with it for now because they are SO much bigger. Any 808 cartridge from any vendor should fit your V2, and they'll fit the Elite also. Good luck on your search and keep vaping!
