Hey,
Been vaping on and off for over a year now. But I quit smoking analogs for good just over 2 weeks ago...so been vaping daily rather than before when it was more for infrequent indoor smoking convenience. So I'm looking to move on from the Joye 510 kit I've been using. Most important thing is more/most flavor. When I smoked analogs I called myself a "wet smoker" because I always had to have a sweet drink while smoking...usually an ice coffee with a ton of equal in it. At a pack a day...I'm clearly saving a ton of money on both cigarettes and sweet beverages, ha ha. So I don't care what my electric smoking device looks like...pipe, pen, cigars, mini, big, small, fat, skinny...it doesn't matter...flavor is what I'm looking for as I'm still trying to kill that sweet/smoky craving I still get. Second most important thing...price. I'm currently laid off and I don't want this to become a huge hobby for me anyway (vaping to get me away from analogs, but eventually want to vape only if and when I have an emergency analog craving)...so not looking to sink a ton into expensive kits or equipment...although so much I look at is tempting! I could see myself totally getting addicted to everything...vaping, the art of modding, mixing juices. I saw some old fashion looking pipes that totally got me excited. But I must resist...for financial and health reasons, ha ha.

So I do a lot of reading on here but honestly there is so much info that I get overwhelmed. So I figured I would just ask. Any recommendations for a) my next vaping device purchase, and b) what supplier to buy from? Thanks so much everyone. I'm so thankful for this forum...such a great resource and wonderful people.

Well the 510 was my second PV (first was a POS two piece). The 510 was nice an I still have it as a deep backup. Went to the eGo/Riva after that. I would suggest the Riva since it is less expensive and can be had at Liberty Flights for $30. Nice unit for the money. I mainly run a nice assortment of Mods but still use the Ego/Rivas for travelling or when I do not want to tote a MOD around. Hope that helps and best of luck.

You said you wanted to not get expensive but didn't give a price range so I'll give several options.

Any device with a true 3.7 battery is going to give you a better vaping experience than a 510 which is around 3.4ish volts.

If you want to go with a mod that won't break the bank the Roughstack or Maxi Roughstack is a great choice at $50ish, add $20-$25 for batteries and charger. Excellent first mod, as rugged build quality as they come and won't break the bank. You can also get basic box mods will under that price but they aren't as durable.

If you want to go variable volt, which I'm a VV guy then there are several choices at just < $100 + batts and charger.

If you want to stay as cheap as possible then the Riva or Ego kits already mentioned is a great way to go. They will have much better battery life in between charges and are more accepting of LR Attys although it's still not widely recommended. The output voltage will be the same as your 510 though so basically the same vaping experience.

Hey all, thanks for quick replies. Checking out everyone's suggestions. Nomoreash...price range is under 50.

So I was looking at this site and they wrote:

"The RN4072 is First Union's version of the popular 801 model. The 4072/801 is THE best flavor producer available. Due to it's large atomizer coil it can vaporize liquids at a cooler temperature. Instead of burning off a lot of the flavor like other electronic cigarettes, the full flavor of your liquid comes through very nicely."

Should I be checking out 801's?

+1 for the Riva 510. Best bang for buck for your situation imho. If you haven't got carts in your arsenal you might consider researching some of the mods and see if you can find something that works for you. I use a modified straw mod where I take a small straw (approx 1/8 in diameter, not a stir straw), cut it about 1/2 in. long, then make 4 straight cuts up the straw to within about 1/8 inch from the top, making it have like four 'legs'. I then push out and cut off two opposite legs, then put it in the cart to measure. I then trim off the bottom until the straw sits down in the cart leaving about 5/8 inch at the top. Then cut the poly in half so that it will sit on top of the straw and not push back into the cart. This wicks really well for me, doesn't leak, and provides great flavor. And best of all, it's cheap lol. If you can get carts and attys working for you, they are the cheapest way to go. (imho of course lol). Good luck and best wishes that your work situation improves soon.

Buy yourself a nice inexpensive Mod (Phidias) so your not like all the rest of us who keep wanting to step up and up and up to be satisfied, this includes you Batts and juice inside, no more dripping or filling carts and ever hit is the same as the first, you can use a nice 18650 Batt or two small 3v Batts for HV vaping. just my 2c oh and the vape and flavor is awesome

What is it that you don't like about your 510. Maybe that would help with suggestions.

I actually have no complaints on the Joye 510's I have...but I have no experience with anything else so I have nothing to compare to. So many posts on here about mods and all the various types of vaping devices that I just figured that compared to my 510 starter kit that I first got 2 years ago...that maybe I'm missing out on something that I would enjoy more.

i'm still trying to wrap my head around mods...like, understanding exactly how they work. maybe when that happens i'll order one of those cheaper box mod kits.

I was in your very shoes, so here is my recommendation. I got tired off all the maintinance on my 501, so I wanted to try a two piece system, so that I wouldn't have to mess with cleaning and maintaining the atomizer. I got a Kr808d-1 from V4L and still use and love it. As an alternative option, the igo from nhaler, has a great battery life and works with all kr808-1 cartamizers. I like the cartamizers cause there cheap, you can refill them, and there's not a lot of hassle. V4L has some great juices as well. Everyone has different vaping desires, but for me the two piece system was a blessing. Thats just my 2 cents.

Uhm I wouldn't go from a 510 to a KR8 seeing your looking to UPGRADE, it wouldn't be necessarily an UPGRADE but a lateral move instead in my opinion. A Ego/Riva would be a small upgrade but seeing you want a Mod I would start out with something I suggested earlier or even more so a Reo Grand, one of these would surely be an upgrade and put out plumes of vapor for you with great taste. Again just my personal opinion, but a good one at that.! look into this one

I agree it is like a lateral move. Which is why I also suggested the igo. Just putting out there that sometimes the two piece system is a lot less hassle, and has almost identical experiences to three piece. My personal opinion.

2 thumbs up on this...once you go variable voltage, you won't go back. If the price is out of reach for you, go with the riva 510.

You can always try a Leo, I've never owned one, I've heard good things about them though. I'm running a 5v box mod from madvapes atm, with a modded tank cart from value vapor. On the carts you have to enlarge the hole behind the filler about 10x to get it to wick right, I also use fluval instead of polly filler.

There are deff some nice mods for about the same as the box mod, unless you want to buy a diy kit and solder it yourself. Variable voltage is a really nice feature, some juices taste better at diff voltages. You can't go wrong with a 510 atty, been my atty of choice since they came out. Good luck in what ever you choose.

I like the kr808 better as a cig like battery. If you want some more flavor you could look into a pack of ce2 clearomizers at 2.4-2.6ohm. for $10 for 5 They will give the best flavor I have found, and will last a long time with dry burns regularly. You would have to look into them to get em working just right. If money wasn't a problem a VV device is the best IMO. Madvapes cheap box mod kit is a great deal for $8.50, or assembled $20 or something. That would get you a 900mah device on the cheap. For a casual device no 3.7 device will change the flavor much. higher voltage and VV will. Just look into the different attys and cartos, and find the one that tastes the best.

I'm going to put in a recommendation for an e-power. It's on sale at Madvapes right now and it's a pretty cool device. It's very similar to an eGo or Riva but, it's a true 3.7V and it uses a generic 14500 battery. That means extra and replacement batteries are a lot cheaper. They are about $5.00 at Madvapes and if you can wait a month or so for delivery dealextreme has them 2 for around $5.00. You might want at least one extra battery with that kit.

If you are really after flavor only, you might want to consider DIYing your juice. It's cheaper and you control the flavor.
