I prefer dual coil ni200 builds over single.

Any idea what my issue might be?

Your first issue is a lack of information issue. We can't help you put together the puzzle that is your build and identify your problem with out all the pieces.

What mod are you using? Is it the hana in the pic?

Which DNA40 chip is in it? Original small screen? Large screen? New chip with atty lock?

Which atty are you trying to build duals in?

Are you building using post holes? Or trapping the wire under the screw head?

What kind of coil are you trying to build? Spaced or micro? What diameter?

What's its resistance? What is the resistance after you leave it sit for 15 minutes and come back to check if the resistance has "refined"?

Did you turn off temp and fire it at 10-14 watts to make sure your coils heated evenly, no hotspots, from the center out?

What are you wicking it with?

What are your settings when you're getting poor vapor production? Watts? Temp?

Is it hitting temp protect super quick?

All these questions need answered. Then we can solve this problem and get you blowing some delicious Dna40 clouds.

The device I'm using is the HANA in the pic which is the new dual battery V4D which has the lock.

The atty I'm currently using is the Syntheticloud Aeolus with the top vertical airflow. I'm considering a Tugboat V2 as well in a couple of days.

When building, I'm using the top screws instead of the post holes because all recommendations claim this will give a better connection.

As for coil, I'm using 30g, spaced around a 3mm screw but since Im not successful with dual coils at the moment, I'm using 30g twisted for a single coil. I'm also using regular ole organic cotton.

Generally my resistance with the dual coils I was attempting was settling at around .16 ohms after vaping for a while. I just can't get much power running dual coils but as soon as I remove one coil, it functions normal. Temperature seems to be acting normal. I'm just getting little vapor regardless of what setting I use whether it's my normal 450 degrees or cranked to 600 degrees at 40 watts.

I have not turned the watts down or put it into voltage mode although I have not witnessed any hot spots either.

I've also watched a video of a reviewer trying a similar build using 28g with the same outcome.

At 450° and 40w are you hitting temp protect fairly quickly? Or does it continue to give you 40w through your pull?
I think I figured it out. I took the tip and ran it in voltage mode first at 15 watts to make sure everything was firing right. Then I let it sit, wicked it and it's kicking some ... now in temp control.

Another thing I think I was doing wrong was spreading my wraps too far apart to try and cover more surface area. This was quite possibly my main problem to begin with.

So heres one final question. How are dual coils using 28g? I'm asking because 30g is a bit delicate when re-wicking. But have read somewhere to use 28g for singles and 30g for duals.

Check out the steam engine coil calculator. 28g ni200 will require some absurd number of wraps to get duals up above .1. Ifs like 15 on a 3mm inside diameter coil. It introduces a bunch of new challenges. For example It makes it difficult to position your coil in your atty in a way to get airflow to the whole coil evenly.

I pretty much stick to 30g or twisted 32g for duals. I only use 28 for single coil builds.
