Since VG doesn't carry flavor well can I assume that the peppery flavor of the nic would be less prominent in a VG base solution?

I decided on Box Elder 100mg nic juice in PG base after reading PG is more stable. So far so good. The peppery aftertaste I read of here is present at 24mg and 18mg for sure. I was thinking of grabbing a bottle of RTS Vapes 100mg VG base nic for sweet and bakery DIYing to mask the peppery aftertaste of the nic. Will that work or am I wasting money buying more nic? RTS is having a 40% off sale and I'd like to place an order if this will help. Thanks much. :p

Why buy VG nic, why not buy plain VG and try a 70/30 PG/VG ratio and see if the peppery taste is reduced, that way you are not out the $$ for VG nic when plain VG is cheap.

I have bottles of plain PG and VG. My fave blend is what you suggest 70/30 PG/VG. The juices all have a peppery finish @ 18 and 24mg. Since the nic is 100mg PG I was wondering if I got nic in VG if it would tone down the pepperyness? This may be a dumb question.

It would probably be the same peppery flavor because it's the nic that is causing it. The best juice I have found is at XtremeVaping and it's flavorless with no peppery bite. My 2nd favorite place is MyFreedomSmokes which is almost flavorless but it has a teensy pepper bite to it. On a pepper scale of 1 to 10, it'd be below a 1 though and I buy it regularly because the price is better. All my Nic bases has been 100% VG and I mix with all VG. I think the pepper flavor is in the Nic, not the base.

And I have bought some Nic that I couldn't use and one of the places was BoxElder, bought through GourmetVapor. It hurt too much to vape it due to the bite it had. Other people say they taste no pepper in BE's juice so I don't know if it's individual taste buds or variations in batches? MIne was neon yellowish orange and if I smelled the bottle, my eyes watered like I was peeling onions!

I learned at 9 months into DIYing to stop buying Nic base on sale from different places LOL! I had over 400 ml of different brands that were useless to me because of the aftertaste or peppery burn. I'll experiment with flavorings but never the Nic base again.

I just ordered 250 ml of 48 mg base from MFS so if you want a tiny sample of it, I'll gladly mail you some so you can try before you buy. It should be here by week's end or so.

Lori - thank you! That's so generous to offer a sample. I'll place an order tonight from MFS. I read many good things here about Box Elder so I bought from them. I like a TH but the Box Elder base is so strong @ 18 and 24mg that it messes up delicate flavors with the peppery taste. I sure appreciate the help.

I posted a few times looking for a solution to the peppery taste at 24mg's and have not found anything as of yet. If you find something please let me know, for the time being I'm dropping down to 12mg 80/20 pg/vg blend to get away from the pepper effect. I'm getting my juice from Gourmet Vapor 12mg 80/20 pg/vg blend, hopefully it will be here next week. Let me know if you find something. Thanks!

The only dumb question is the one not asked. What you don't know, is what you don't know until asked. I agree with Sikakc, I only buy my nic juice from XtremeVaping as it has no peppery taste to it even at 24. Of course I only order nic suspended in VG, this way if I have anyone that want only a VG blend I can mix it up VG only. Or I can use the VG nic to make a 80/20 PG/VG blend. I highley recommend XtremeVaping, Levy is a great guy to deal with.

Ordered and jazzed to get a less-pepper effect. Thanks, again. One more question: We've been mixing the base 70/30 18 and 24mg. Hubby makes 6 ounces in 30ml bottles with the protective gear on and around him.

I'm reading that I should be mixing nic-free then add the nic later. Are we doing it backwards? The logic was that we would need to handle the high nic less often with the base pre-mixed. TIA again.

So long as you have your measurments correct it really does not matter. I Always add nic first, then flavoring then top it off with pg and shake, that way if I miscalculate then pg is spilling and making a mess, with flavoring and a little nic. The other way you have nic juice spilling everywhere. I would say your right on the money.

Ok...I was PLEASENTLY suprised when I got the mail today that my blank cartz and juice from multiple vendors arrived. As mentioned earlier I was getting that peppery throat hit at 24mg. Well I ordered some 12mg 80/20 pg/vg blend juices and all I can say is WOW what a difference!!! I got (10) different samples to try and 3 out of the first 4 are just plain AWESOME! That nasty throat hit and the after taste on my tongue are no more! I cant wait to try the other 6 flavors!!!! And I think 12mg's gunna work just fine (I was a pack a day marlboro light smoker), what I mean by that I think the nic level will be good seeing how I ate dinner while I was filling the cartz and absolutely no urge to go have an analogue. I had been back to analogues for the last week as I just couldnt vape the 24mg's anymore. I hope this was the answer!!!! I will post more on the juice flavors later in the evening once I have filled and tried the rest! Hope this helps anyone who is experiencing the same peppery taste/throat hit from the high nic cartz.

I have only tried nic juice from MFS, the 100mg stuff and I DIY all my juices to a 24 mg strenth and MFS does have a little bit of the peppery bite to it but I really like a little pepper bite on the exhale. When I first started DIY I wondered if I would have to get a black pepper flavor additive to get that bite but soon found that MFS was just right for me. I got the MFS due to recommendations from the forums.

2nd or 3rd nic buy I went with voidmist, have been staying with them -- never had any aftertaste, even at 30 mg/ml. Their prices are consistently good.
(Cheapie note -- when buying nic, convert to how many mg/$ you get. I buy 60 mg/ml since it is noticeably more bang for the buck than 100, and I have to add less filler PG or VG at the end.)
