I am getting 20 feet of nichrome 90 23 gauge in the mail today. is it possible to build a .5 ohm or higher dual coil build? I have been building my own coils for many years and I understand ohm's law etc. I just can't find a source anywhere online for nichrome 90. I have obviously checked steam engine and have used google extensively looking for builds but to no avail. there must be someone who has used this wire or who can help me with it. thanks, Jeff

the 23g nichrome 90 got delayed a day. it will be here today. I ordered 25g nichrome 90 yesterday which should be here after the holidays. I am aware that the 25 gauge will require less wraps than the 23 gauge for the same ohms. I am using a series mod so I like higher ohm builds. at the moment I am using .53 ohm dual coils that came with my mod. I absolutely love these coils as they are the only ones that I can take huge hits from without the hits being way to harsh. it's just my luck that I know nothing about these coils other than that they are 12 wraps. I have gone through more than two dozen or so builds and they all hit way to harsh even at .5-.6 ohms. I have used 22, 24, 26, and 28 gauge wires along with assorted Claptons, aliens etc.

the 23 gauge nichrome90 wire with dual coil 12 wraps around a 3mm jig only got me to .23 ohms. not even close to what I wanted and this tells me i will not try to get to .5ohms or more with this wire. maybe I will have better luck with the 25 gauge nichrome 90.

Yeah... 23ga Wire is pretty Big.

You will get Closer with 26ga. But I think in the end, you may need to go with Kanthal A1 to get where you want to be.

BTW, what made you decide to go with NiChrome 90?
an employee of my local b&m shop had a nichrome90 build in his jmodz box mod. I went back to the shop yesterday to check out his build and he had a 4 26650 battery mod. 2 batteries in series and 2 batteries in parallel. so he is able to sub-ohm with that mod (2 in parallel). something I can't do because my mod runs 2 26650 batteries in series. I can't go below .3 ohms. I'm hoping the new 25 gauge nichrome90 will get me closer to .5ohms. Otherwise it's back to kanthal.

Gotcha.

Wow... a Four 26650 Battery Mod with 2 in Series and then those 2 in Parallel. That's a Whole Lot of Mod.

I used 25 gauge nichrome 90 dual coils with 18 wraps per coil around a 3mm jig. it came to .51 ohms. it produces good flavor and great clouds. I tried this build on a 26650 dual series box mod. I would use this build on all of my series mods. however, I find that "sweet spot vapors" *ti-x* wire with dual coils and 12 wraps per coil around a 3mm jig that puts out .50 ohms is by far the smoothest, least harsh, hardest hitting build on all my series builds. take a look at my "sweet spot vapors ti-x" forum on this website as it will explain *ti-x* wire in detail.
