So I think it's widely accepted that cigarettes can help suppress appetite and increase heart rate and metabolism, thus potentially helping weight loss. I have also heard stories of people gaining weight after quitting smoking. I'm just wondering if nicotine is mainly responsible for the effects on the body I mentioned above, or if other chemicals in cigarette smoke play a role as well. Has anyone noticed a difference, one way or the other, when switching to ecigs?

PS. Cigarette-free for 36 hours .

I also wonder, though, in smokers who quit and gain weight whether a lot of the weight gain comes in the form of replacing the hand-to-mouth action with food instead of a cigarette. I'm only a few days totally off cigarettes and entirely vaping, but I don't seem to be eating any more. In fact, I've found that I've lost a bit of my sweet tooth as it seems to be satisfied with what I vape rather than seeking out any chocolate.

I agree. Nicotine raises your blood sugar levels. I think after quitting people try to recreate that effect with food.

I'm smoking less, vaping more and eating a bit more. I think my snacking more has to do with the fact that I'm vaping soda and drink flavors and it's like my body is saying "hey, a sandwich would go good with that mountain dew flavor".

I barely ate when I was purely smoking cigs, I'd have dinner and maybe a bowl of cereal at 3am (I'm a night person) and that would be it.

I have lost over 20LB séance I have started vamping, I love sweets and when I could not smoke I munched well now I can vap all the sweets I like, it has helped me cut way down on evening snacking and I drink a lot more water. :)

Did you really mean "Seance since I started vamping"? Sorry I couldn't help but make fun of the typo.

That's a good idea. I'm about to order a bunch of 3ml bottles, but so far I've been sticking to fairly traditional flavors. What sweet flavors would you guys recommend?

I've been steadily losing weight and putting on muscle for the past 5 months. I've lost approx. 15 lbs and I've put on noticeable muscle mass. I was lazier when I first got back into working out, now I'm in the gym 4-5-6 times a week (or I'll substitute riding my bike). That's the main reason I'm quitting cigs actually. I figure its pointless to work so hard in the gym but be limited by poor circulation/lung capacity.

I dont think my weight is gonna go up because I'm taking Green Tea + Acai Berry + OxyElitePro Fat Burner pills (yup, waging a serious war on my pudgy midsection). Also, I'm pretty sure that nicotine is the main reason cigs help people lose weight. All those other chemicals like carbon monoxide that you inhale with cigs are just complete junk. No good for anybody in any way. I feel intellectually superior to cig smokers now, might start to become a problem
