I'm posting this in the New Members forum, simply because it gets a lot more activity. mod... if needs to be moved, be my guest.

To begin with, myself and one other co-worker vape at our desks and we've received no complaints from anyone. BTW, we work in a "cube farm", the walls of which are 6' high. Today we noticed that someone has placed a box fan on top of some filing cabinets and it blows at high speed all day. When my co-worker inquired about it, the reply was so-and-so said there's too much nicotine in the air. Mind you, that "so-and-so" is a moderate smoker of the analogue variety. My question is... Is there any truth to this? Or is he just blowing smoke, pardon the pun. BTW, the chap in question tends to be a bit of a prima donna.

I'm priming the pumps just in case and any feedback, facts, etc. would be most helpful.

20-60% of nicotine is absorbed when you inhale and through various other blood vessels it comes in contact with, so there is still nicotine content in your vapor. Without MAOI's or menthol introduced to your system, nicotine is broken down rather easily by the body. All tobacco contains MAOI's. If he starts to :bwillbecensoreditch:, tell him he can continue when he quits smoking.

It's pretty hard to find real studies on nicotine that aren't focused around tobacco as well, but

"As of 2004, testing showed that the average cigarette contained 12+ mg of nicotine and delivered approximately 1.2-1.8 mg to the smoker. Nicotine gum products are sold with dosages up to 4 mg per piece in the United States. Transdermal patches are sold that deliver around .88 mg, .58 mg, and .29 mg per hour for 24 hours. Intranasal (nasal spray) doses are similar to smoked doses. [ Erowid Nicotine Vault: Basics ] "

Obviously you're not able to inhale every bit of the cigarette, so take into consideration a slight decrease in the 12+mg that can be accessed by your body that just burns off from your cherry.

Let him know that there is more nicotine in vegetables than in your vapor. Also, I can't remember where I read it though, the only way for him to get a measurable amount of nicotine from "secondhand" vapor is if you blew it fully into his mouth. I really don't understand this behavior from a smoker though. Unless it's jealousy over the fact that you can get your nic fix right there and he has to go outside to get his.

If there's only two vapers in the office, and you're not making clouds :vapor: it will be relatively harmless.
Personally, I can't stand the noise of box fans...
Nope, no clouds, just modest plumes of vapor. I use a small 6" fan that dissipates my exhaled vapor pretty quickly. Fortunately, the box fan is about 4 metres away. Besides, I have headphones on most of the day, in the groove with DnB or House music :p

... Maybe you need to help them convert.
We managed to pick up another convert today at work, not the individual making the aforementioned claim. My mate and I were talking to him about it and he went out during lunch and bought one of these. He'd tried a cig-a-like some time back, but wasn't satisfied with the lackluster vapor production.
