I like 18mg nic in MTL mode in nautilus 2. As a newbie i made a mistake and tried fruit flavour 70vg 30pg 18mg mix. First of all throat hit is not that enjoyable(I like smooth vape) and the juice leaves a zing in my taste bud that drives my brain nuts and I have a hard time tasting those fruits over that nicotine zing kind of taste.

So here what i learned after i made the mistake :
***
Fruit flavours dont go well with high nicotine, as nicotine taste (zing) overlaps the taste of fruit and it seems muted. Also maybe sour fruits like green apple tend to enhance the effect of nicotine.

My Questions are :
1) Does sweet flavours (Like caramel, Butterscotch, etc) will also be overlapped by the nicotine zing taste? I want to try some super sweet flavour but i am afraid that they also might not work.

2) What flavours can covers up the zing taste of nicotine and make it super smooth?

Can't say i agree with that.... When i started i had the original nautilus and i vaped fruity liquids (fact is i still do) started at 15mg of nic with 50/50 liquids, it tasted very good to me with a nice throat hit now i can't say about your experience but sour flavors aren't really fruity it's more of a candy vape at that point tbh. Taste is like anything in the vape world : Subjective What one likes dosen't mean the next is gonna like it aswell. I've been trying all kinds of fruity flavors since i started vaping and not once did i have a "bad taste" and i never tasted the nicotine either. Keep in mind the more nicotine the less flavoring, pg drives flavor better but i digress that one since even at 80vg my liquids are tasting more than fine. OH and one important thing to note : sweeter liquids WILL gunk your coils much faster it's always better to use rebuildables on these ones, so if you wanna do butterscotch and such don't do it on a nautilus you will change your coils probably every day :p

Perhaps what you need is to try a different brand of juice that uses a different nicotine supplier. Nicotine is a complex alkaloid, and it does have a strong flavor. But with some brands it is more muted than others. If you ever considered DIY, most people here agree the brand Nude Nicotine sells comparatively mild nic base. Welcome to the board.

There's also the option of using nic-salt based juices that come premade. There are a few vendors that offer them. Nic-salts are reportedly smoother and give less of a throat-hit zing action. Nicotine River sells nic salts if you ever decide to start DIY e-liquids as well. I'd try a bottle of something pre-made first to see how you like it, IF you decide to go this route...

Good luck!

Can the pg based nic salt if mixed at 3mg/ml be used in sub ohm tanks just like free based nicotine? Scared after reading some threads where they said its not a good idea to vape nic salts in sub ohm. Are they talking about high nic level or nicotine salts itself. Is there any guide to nic salts please share it. I think i can manage some.

I have not heard anything about that. If vaping very high nic salt content in a sub0hm device, I'd think you'd be fine if you used a lower nic content, but I don't sub0hm, so I'm certainly not the best person to ask. Maybe it is a bit easier to overdo the nicotine if you aren't feeling the harshness so much.

But I'm a bit confused, you stated in your original post that you were using MTL 18 m.g. nic with a Nautilus 2 device? Why not use it at a higher nic content in that device? I think it will remove the harshness that you were discussing... If you lower your nic content to 3 m.g. and start using a sub0hm device, especially if your VG is high enough, you may not feel as much of a throat hit, even with regular nicotine.... So, I'm a bit confused, honestly.

Many thanks for the info. Ya i use Nautilus 2 mtl 18mg. I dont have sub ohm tank. I was just asking so many questions just to gain some information. So now I'll just focus on getting some nic salt and start diy in same percentage. And if i require tad bit of TH I'll just bump up the pg.

Keep in mind that some fruit flavors in high percentages have there own throat hit. That combined with the relatively high nic content could be part of it. For instance, some strawberry bothers me above 7-8%. It could just be the brand of nic that was used. Some are quite harsh at that level

I have changed my Nicotine base supplier, I used to use HiLiq, and now have gone to Mixology Nicotine. For two reasons, HiLiq I found somewhat harsh and I do use all sorts of flavours including Fruit and Beverage flavors and occasionally Mollinberry RY4 which I might add is the best RY4 I have found to date. The second reason for the switch is the freight prices are heaps cheaper. $15AUD flat rate and delivery is just as quick. For Southern Hemisphere vapers have a look at Unflavoured | Product categories

Haven't posted in a while so I will chime in with a completely unhelpful but relevant comment: I am using the Juul. All the pods are filled with nic salt juice - at 5% nicotine. I did not like the fruit juice that came with the starter kit but I love the mango flavored juice. So, maybe it is the kind of fruit flavor that is the problem.
