hey guys,

I would like to know if anyone has noticed this with their liquids and their health.

I have received several batches from several vendors of e-liquids and generally do not have a problem with nicotine overdose. I found myself going through a stage where it wouldn't take me long to get into that 'overdose' mode where I will start to get a headache, experience dizziness and jittery and completely lose my desire to vape due to already elevated nicotine levels.

At first I wasn't sure what was causing this. I thought it may have been that I was vaping too much but vaping frequency seemed to have little correlation to how I was feeling. On some days I could vape all day and still crave nicotine by bed time and other days, I would be a jangly twitching jittery mess an hour after waking up.

So after a while, I thought I figured out what it was. I think the problem is one particular batch of liquids I got from a reputable vendor of quality juices. It seemed everytime I used juices in that batch I would quickly reach an elevated nicotine level where I would have to slow my vaping down for the rest of the day. It seemed to be linked to this particular batch but I cannot really confirm that. I've bought other batches from the same vendor and had no problems at all. It's just this one batch it seems.

Can someone tell me, is it common for vendors to get the nicotine levels wrong by a substantial amount? Has anyone experienced such a 'bad' batch of liquids that seemed to have far more nicotine than what was stated?

Could it be something else that is affecting me like the PG levels? What about the age of liquid? Can it become more toxic or nicotine levels more potent when the liquid is out of date?

I smoke 18 or 24 mg juices. I've noticed that with 24 mg juice I tend to get jittery after a while (nowhere near to elevated levels I referred to above) but I am okay on 18 mg.

What kind of actual cigs did you smoke before starting down the road with vaping? By any chance, were they lights?

You said you're okay with 18mg. Maybe 24mg is too strong for you?

I'm a newbie (got my kit last Thursday) - still not totally off cigs and today I'm getting a headache. It might be the fact that this is the 1st day that I have only vaped cherry flavor (when not taking a few puffs off a cig here and there) - or - I don't think I kept my water intake high enough yesterday.
Are you drinking lots of water?

Hopefully someone else will come along with more knowledge than me - old lady that I am.

Hi there,

I was on a mid strength cigarette. It could be the strength but this particular batch seems to give me some real problems.

If you are entirely new to vaping expect some mucus to come up soon and a nasty cough for a while. This is due to the fact your body is cleaning out all those toxins in your lungs and de-clogging itself. It's a positive side effect and don't make the mistake of thinking it's the e-cigs giving you the cough. The mucus build up and cough is a natural symptom of giving up cigarettes, and it's severity depends on how long you were smoking and how frequently.

Good luck with the e-cigs!

When I first started vaping I grabbed a 24mg juice and was vaping it similar to how I smoked a cigarette..which was a lot at one brief period. I can remember one time I did get a headache from it and the best bet is to stick to the 18mg till your body gets used to vaping. There is a transition..or atleast there was for me.

You may find that you can get by with a lower nic lvl in your juices and be satisfied. I personally tried dropping my nic slowly, but I found I vaped more frequently and basically was just burning up juice. I stick at about 20-26 when I make my juice for the week now and it works great..for me. If over a time period you feel like 18 mg isnt cutting it for ya throw in some 24mg to your "daily rotation".

Anyway I wouldn't worry what you are describing is basically how I feel when I'm drinking and CONSTANTLY VAPE..just watch what your doing and you will start to notice when you have had enough nic for a minute.

I'm going to respond to the elephant in the room; human error at the other end of your liquid purchase seems likely. I really personally like a few liquid vendors, but that doesn't change the fact that most of them aren't exactly doing their work under cleanroom conditions. They've purchased nicotine solution from overseas, some flavorings, some pg and vg, and just like any other DIYer, went to work making flavors people would want to vape.

I'd thin it out with some no-nic liquid or pg/vg and not worry too much about it.

In my opinion/experience, yes it does happen. 'Common' might be an overstatement, but I would agree it is not rare.

It should be rare and I would like to see better quality control.

Thanks for shining a beam on the 'elephant in the room'. If this was happening to me all the time I'd say I just need to drop my nicotine levels. But I can go some days and vape to my hearts content and feel fine, maybe even feel like I am not getting enough nicotine, and then on other days just a few draws and I can find my pulse rising, my nerves jangling and my head spinning a bit with disorientation. When that happens it can take a day or 2 to recover fully! Of course, if I didn't vape at all after such an episode I would probably recover quicker but I enjoy vaping and am addicted to the psychological side of drawing in vapor.

The fact that I can vape frequently all day on 18 mg liquid all day long and occasionally feel like I could still with more nicotine and then quite suddenly on a random day feel sick from too much nicotine, forcing me to slow things down, seems to infer that the problem lies with some of my liquid and not with my physiology.

I wish there was a way to detox the body of nicotine when that happens so I can just enjoy vaping again rather than wait 2 days for nic levels to normalise. I know it might sound perverse, but waking up in the morning during such a phase and not having a craving for nicotine is unusual and makes me think something is wrong! No matter how much I smoked when I was on analogs, the first thing I would want the following morning is nicotine.

The key problem with me is that I vape so many different juices in the space of a week that I can't always isolate which liquid may be the culprit in the likelihood that the liquid has higher concentrates of nicotine than stated.
