I've been vaping for three days now. I have a sneaking suspision that I am not the only one out here who has started their vaping career in this manner, but I've been vaping my brains out these last 3 days. Vaping like a mad dog... vapor starting to come out of my ears, I've been at it so hard.

So the question presents itself... something I've previously never wondered about: Can you overdose on nicotine? Is there such a thing as nicotine poisening or sickness?

I'm not feeling sick or anything, but I have experienced a slight light-headedness, a bit of an efforvecent feeling. So, would like more info on this. Thanks.

Yes, too much nic is going to make you feel sick, just like too much caffiene or sugar would. Also, getting rid of the added toxins in cigarettes will have it's effects over time. Worst problem I had was not drinking enough water. Use common sense, slow down if you think you are vaping too much and drink more water than you think you need!

here in spain we call it "niple phase" just like babies, supposedly due to vaping nico is not as efficient as smoking nico, because of this you are effectively introducing less nico in your body which causes you kind of cold turkey, im my own case it lasted for a few days until my body got used to the new level of nico, after that you will find that you will need to vape less strenght cause you will find stronger liquids too strong, calm down and be patient, you will wonder after a few days how the heck you've been sucking that disgusting and horrible smoke for so long

Since you've only been vaping for three days, I would chalk this up to two things; dehydration and withdrawal. Your body is getting rid of the extra toxins found in cigarettes and lightheadness, headaches and nausea are all part of the symptoms. Vaping by its very nature is dehydrating. Both PG and VG pull moisture out of your mouth, so make sure that you're drinking plenty of water.

It's very difficult to "OD" on nicotine while vaping, unless you're constantly vaping an extremely high level of nicotine, say higher than 36mg. Even 36mg can cause headaches, but in order to overdose you'd have to drink a LOT of vape juice.

I'm almost constantly vaping 18mg and 24mg juice and I have yet to overdose. Once you get adjusted to vaping and settle in to some flavors, you'll slow down at least a little bit.

You're OK. I couldn't set the thing down when I first started out either. I would sometimes get a little queasy and dizzy and have to stop for a bit. Through it all though.....I never felt like smoking :D You'll slow down after a bit....

Great advice from Tersur, Tinybells and Dan. Not much I can add. Just listen to your body. It'll tell ya if you're getting too much nic. Water is a big issue. Drink like a camel getting ready to cross the desert. Vaping is massively dehydrating and can cause worse problems than too much nic. That vapor you're exhaling is your water supply going up in vapor. +1 for upping your nic a bit. And if you need a few cigs as you transition to vaping, no big deal. They don't own you anymore and you'll be rid of them soon. Some it's in a few days and others take a bit. You're doing great. Big congrats to you.

Thanks to everyone for the informative feedback. I really appreciate it. Now begins my next phase: the hunt for that perfect e-liquid nirvana to suite my taste. I'm finding tobacco flavor isn't cutting it for me... too sweet and nutty and grainy tasting. I think citrus or even menthol (mentholated citrus???) might be right for me. Any good lemon/lime/menthol suggestions?

Actually the cool thing about vaping is you can make anything you want. My first juice was a watermelon when i went to refill i decided to do menthol. But there was still some watermelon in the tank, strange but very satisfying flavor. Ask i write this i am vaping a menthol peach which i LOVE!

I am new here myself so take this with a grain of salt. When i was a smoker i also partook of my hookah and i would get the same feeling doing that. Now for those that don t know about a hookah, most of the tobacco has been washed and does not have any nicotine in it. That feeling was not coming from the nicotine but rather from the inhaling. With a analog you dont take the deep breathing puff that you do vaping. In a sense your hyperventilating.

Which means your actually getting too much air in your lungs. It truely would take a truck load of vaping to OD but yes it can certainly happen. I would say to monitor your body it will tell you to slow down when your getting carried away. Trust me i know how you feel though since i started i have been vaping like a madman, and i aint no sissy i am vaping 32mg lol

Welcome aboard and congratulation on the first steps to a new adventure.

Yup, that is normal. I did it hard when I started, and anytime I drop the strength down a little, I can tell I am hitting it harder for a while until I adjust.

Brew

I also vape constantly when my Mg is too low. What constitutes the *right* strength varies for individual vapers. While you might not technically "OD" on nic, some people can not tolerate even moderately high mg. Juice, even if they smoked full strength cigarettes before switching. I keep a mixed range of juice on hand, and change mg, as needed. (Low mg in the evening, higher in the am. for instance).

yeah me too. I go from 15 in the morning to wake me up down to 5 or 0 at night or I can't sleep.

Don't get your expectations too high. Juice is sort of like the flavored yogurts. Similar taste but eating a yogurt isn't like eating a slice of apple pie. Same with juice. Instead of nirvana, look for something acceptable. With time, acceptable usually turns into good.

Best explanation of juice I've read in 8 months of vaping. What a great way to explain it. Thanks:p

This is interesting. I understand that nicotine craving is what makes you want to smoke or vape, but that craving is not so much on the concious level as it is on the cellular level, and I think it is not the only thing that smokers/vapers crave. I mean that as a conscious thought, it's never "damn, I really need a nicotine fix....", or "wow, there was a lot of nicotine in that hit..."; it's more the puffing and the taste, the feeling of inhaling smoke/vape that is how the desire for smoking/vaping is presented to us on a conscious level.

Considering this, I'd like to hear from those of you out there who vape non-nicotine e-liquid... especially if you were a heavy analog smoker. Do you find the flavor and the simple act of puffing and exhaling thick vapor to be satifying without the need for the nicotine?

I also wonder if you can get strong TH, and plentifull vapor production in an e-juice that is nicotine free???

No, you get no TH from zero juice at all.

"I mean that as a conscious thought, it's never "damn, I really need a nicotine fix....",

See, for me it is. I don't vape alot (compared to some) but when I have a nicotine craving it's when I vape. I also vape higher nicotine, 24.

There's no real right or wrong way. Some keep the nicotine lower so they can vape more. Other's like it higher so they vape less. Adds up to be about the same thing.
