I just dont trust these things. I have the i4 and my brother has a i2. the battery indicator will still blink on the second bar but when I check the charge with my multimeter its at 4.2v. This is with both chargers. mine use to work fine, still charges good but I cant trust the battery level on it. My brother just bought his a few weeks ago.

Whats the deal?

They tend to deliver a very small trickle charge towards the end of the charging cycle. When the battery first goes on charge it gets a higher charge rate as it gets closer to the charge limit it slows right down. I wouldn't worry about. I've checked my batteries straight off the charger and I've never had one go above 4.25 volts. If you have batteries in the nitecore you'll notice that the charger feels warm during the main charging phase, when it gets to the third bar flashing the charger will be cool again.

If it bothers you to the point of concern for safety, ditch the charger and get another.

I had a Pila whose first bay stopped working after 15 months of hard use, and Pila's are considered to be one of the top chargers. I retired it and am now using a Nitecore i4 and i2 as a backup. I check the voltage coming off the charger and they always read 4.2 volts.

How old is the charger ??

I've had mine for about 9 months now, no problems at all and it does get a lot of use - I charged 8 different batts on it just today.

As long as it's not overcharging the batts, that's the main thing. Just a thought, if it's not showing the 3rd light while charging the light might have blown.

Always spot on concerning batteries. Thanks for being here!

Whilst chargers even of the same make and model may vary from one to another, I can assure you @sawtoothscream that all chargers taste disgusting when cooked. If I may suggest adding half a clove of garlic to the pan to take away some of the plasticky taste. Also serve with a strong cheese dip for the more indigestible parts.

Actually, if you check most standard charging graphs you will find that it is normal for Li-ion batteries to charge to 80/90% very quickly before slowly levelling out toward maximum as in couple of random examples below. Overcharging to 4.25v though not ideal, is not dangerous but it will however decrease the cycle life of the cell.

not sure what to think. I let it go for awhile and they started looking like things are working. the first and second bar went solid and the third was blinking. after while i took them off and one read 4.2 and the other flicked between 4.2 and 4.3v on my multimeter. on the zmax both read 4.1

so idk if my meter is off or the zmax is off. might have to have my brother bring his multimeter home with him. his is much nicer then mine. so things might be good but I want to double check with another meter before I decide if i can trust to let these charge according to the bars on the charger. Batteries and charger are not hot at all during the whole charge which is good

I've heard a lot of complaints or I've had a lot of complaints lol and to me without dropping a ton of money on a charger with more features that I'll even remember the thing has the nitecore seems to be one of my faves and best performing. But as time goes by and especially with batteries theres almost too many variables for me to feel confident in saying the problem is this or that.
