So, I got a nimbus the other day and I was happy to coil some wicks and it started. But it seems I must be doing something wrong. I've watched many videos on how to dual coil and nimbus and though I had it down, but saddly after 5 dual coil attempts.. I must be doing something wrong. Here's my process
1. I use 36 Gauge Kanthal wire and wrap 2mm Silica wick (folded). I do about 3 wraps. And I make sure the wraps arnt super tight or super loose.
2. I take the coil wraped silica and feed one coil end through the negative and one through the possitive.
3. I tighten the negative post, and then repeat step 2 on the other side.
4. Then after both my coils are in and the negatives are screwed tight, I possition the possitive coil ends a little away from the post and tighten the post down.
5. I trim the excess kanthal wire and put my nimbus on an ohm meter. It usually reads a stable 1.4 or around there. (Sometimes is jumps around and isnt stable at all though)
6. I put it on my K100 and fire it with no e liquid (pulse method), most of the time only one coil lights up right away and the other is a little slower.
7. So i figure its ok, and i Proceed to put e liquid on my coils and wicks and start vaping. ( I get the most vile burnt metalic taste and when i pop my top cap, the e liquid surrounding the coil is black) this is discourageing my from rda/rba's.. Especially when im a newbie the the rda/rba world..
I really need some help, any suggestions or corrections to what im doing wrong would be great. Thanks

this should not be happening, there is a loose connection or short somewhere.

something is wrong in the set up it should be close to even. adjust the coil spacing and/or the length of the legs on the slower coil.

Especially when im a newbie the the rda/rba world..

not sure why your attempting dual coils before you have even mastered a regular coil. or did i miss that.

one of the things to do is check each coil with a multimeter before using it they must be very close in resistance to work correctly.

if your getting burning one one coil and nothing on the other this again would make me think something is shorting out or not attached properly.

i dont have direct experience with the nimbus so i dont know if it has two holes but dual coils with only one airhole will lead to some serious harsh TH. the juice will build up a black layer of crust but it shouldnt be immediately. especially at a combined total of 1.4 ohms.

I would stick to single coils. I just made the jump myself after becoming very comfortable making single coils. If you don't make both coils basically the same it won't heat evenly.

You might have the coil choking the wick. Or it's too loose and part of it isn't making contact with the wick. It could also be one of the legs. Pictures would help.
