Hi all, I'm looking for an NIMH battery expert. I would love to build a puck mod (next on my list), but in the meantime:
In my research for building a Puck, I have some across a cylindrical battery holder (converter), that takes 4 AAA batteries and hook them up in a series. From what I understand, If I use 4 AAA 850mAh in a series that will give me 4.2 volts and 850 mah, right (Lenmar Ready-2-Go R2GAAA8 1.2V 850mAh Rechargeable NiMH)? Using Ohms law, a 2.4 ohm clearo will pull 2 amps. I guess my question is, if I can find a mech mod that the battery holder will fit, will this work? I know that the puck mod site suggests using a tank at 3.0 ohm (can anyone tell me why, i'm still learning).
With a 2.6 ohm clero will draw at around 2 amps, 850 mah will give me under 1/2 hour of (constant, like button is pushed down the whole time) use. So, say....1-2 hours of vaping (depending on draw)?
I've read that NIMH is a pretty safe battery technology, but are there any risks to this vs. a puck mod. Does voltage drop off a lot when the battery is draining? Is there any safety risk in over discharging?
The reason that this is Puck inspired is because, isn't a puck mod really just a (really cool) mech mod (or am a really off-base)? It seems as if the puck mod doesn't have over discharge or short protection as well. Could there be some issue with the wiring and load?
TLDR:
Will this work:
4*AAA Serial Cylindrical Plastic Battery Holder + 18-Arhat Mechanical Mod + Innokin iClear 16
=
super-safe awesome-sauce??
Are my thoughts anywhere in the ballpark of correct?
Thanks!
