NJoy warning re: metal and cell phones?

There's a warning listed in the FAQ section on the njoy website to be sure to keep your batteries away from metal and away from cell phones (something about the magnetic field interfering with/damaging the mechanism). This was probably in the manual, too. I guess I should have read it. :oops:

Is this common knowledge? I don't remember reading anything about this subject on the forum, but since I have virtually no memory of anything, that doesn't mean much. Just thought I'd ask about it....

I'm also thinking this must pertain to the proximity of batteries to a computer, as well, then. Anybody know?

Thanks for the replies, guys.

What I'm thinking is that there must be some truth to this. Since NJoy provides a one-year warranty, it would behoove them to keep things in working order, and I can't think of any reason for them to add an unnecessary maintenance step. ??

I can think of one: as an excuse to refuse warranty replacements. Yes, I do have a nasty suspicious mind.
