This is the question I never wanted to ask. I was hoping to stumble upon some great secret that everyone just knows but no one talks about... unfortunately, I have found no such perfect method.

I have the Joye 510.
It seems like I am having to tinker and drip and top off and blow out the atty more than I'm actually vaping off of it.
And every time I put it down for a little while (whether I add juice right when I put it down or a minute before I start vaping again) it always tastes crappy for at least 10-15 vapes.
What the heck am I doing wrong?
Is there some magical secret? a better device that will give me good throat with good taste (that preferably has a PCC or some device to make it last through my day as I'm constantly going to classes til 8 at night)
Or do you guys just mess with it all the time and take the good with the bad?
Because, I'll do it if I have to, but I'd love it to be a bit easier.

Sounds like your atty is kind of funky... Granted I've only had my Joye510 for a week, I haven't had any problems like that. I'll drop a drop on the atty every once in a while when the flavor starts to get weak, but that's usually if I'm vaping non-stop for a while and the carts just don't seem to be able to keep up sometimes. Just 1-2 drops onto the atty does it for me, and lasts a good while before I have to do it again. Maybe you've got a bad atty? Not sure, just know I haven't had that problem, so there should be something you can do to remedy it! :p

This depends on what type of taste you are talking about.

My first venture into ecigs I had a problem where it tasted burned, and generally like crap. This was due to my burning the fibers that run from the 510 atty bridge to the coil. I removed these and the burned taste went away, but my atty died two days later. I tried removing them from a new atty, it died 3 or 4 days latter. Don't do this.

After this experience I started using the PCB cart mod. I always made sure there was liquid in the cart. This worked well for some time. I have now moved on to the brass screen mod (actually use stainless steel). Whenever the flavor drops I refill the cart. I have been using the same atty for around 3 1/2 weeks now with no noticeable drop in vapor production.

At first I did try all the cleaning methods mentioned in this form. The only one that seemed to work was the hydrogen peroxide. A newer post suggests boiling the hydrogen peroxide with the atty. The pictures do show this cleans the atty quite well. I will say I personally do not clean attys anymore. In my experience the atty comes clean and vapes like new (easy draw) for a day or two. Then it is back to the relatively harder draw. I just don't find any reason to clean them. In the event someone shows mold growing on an atty, then I will seriously consider it.

It is just a learning curve of sorts. I suggest you try a new atty. First blow out the primer, then drip a 1 or 2 drops on the bridge before inserting the cart. Whenever the vapor or flavor drops off refill the cart.

Try not to get the atty extremely hot. I use a battery mod at 3.7v. Generally I take 3 successive draws for a total of around 10 seconds. This will get my atty hot, but not burn my fingers hot. I then wait 20 sec or so and repeat until satisfied.

Trust me it will get better as you get the hang of it.

I have been using the same two 510 attys for about 5 or 6 months now. I usually just get them warm at night and blow them out. I have rinsed them out under hot tap water a couple times and once used some vinegar but 99 percent of the time I just blow them out each night and turn them upside down on a paper towel. It amazes me that I here so many people talk about attys going bad.

well. i've been doing this over a month now. and i'm on my fifth atomizer. i've learned a lot about them as i've gone through, well, more than a few... learned something new each time. first two were in the first week of vaping - burned the wick off both. i was still getting the hang of it so i let that go. the third i did a quick distilled vinegar/water bath, rinsed under a tap and kaput... forth flooded constantly because the flavor was so good that way. fifth, i've mellowed out. haven't cleaned it. keep it wet, but not too wet. i'm dripping and topping off my cart every once in a while. tastes just terrible... i don't know what to do!

I'm no expert (far from it) but I have three attys...two of them vape like atom bombs, they are spectacular!

The other one is piss poor. It works, but I spend more time trying to get priming tokes to start up a little bit of good vape than actually vaping (I am using manual batts, so this should not be the case). Batterys last less than an hour with this thing, I've tried cleaning it with IP, blowing it priming it with a few drips of juice etc, it's just an incredibly poor performer...I'll try it again when my passthrough arrives, but I hold little hope of ever getting it to perform like the other two

Moral of the story, some attys are better than others.

i'm going to order some new atomizers and get the tea bags, hopefully a combo of this will do some wonders for me.... i also think my juice might be funky. new juice with both the newest attys. think it might have been left outside in the mailbox too long. can anyone tell me what this would do to the juice, like, how EXACTLY it affects it. because the whole batch is just terrible... i just don't think it could get bad that fast! i hate alabama....

Every experience is personal and unique. Personally I never had much luck with the smaller pvs. I want lots of vapor and long lasting bats. I'd recommend you look into building your own 3.7 mod in the Mod Section of this forum. If you can afford it try a product from PureSmoke or a Janty stick. Again, personally I'd recommend a 801 atomiser. Much more room to drip into, 3 drops lasts for me without flooding.

Mallie, I am not sure how long you have been vaping but this I can tell you. I went thru many rough days switching to vaping because my tastebuds went nuts on me. One day one flavor would taste ok then the next day not. I ended up with about 10-15 different flavors that I was rotating out to just stay on track. I still use 8-10 flavors on rotation but have found a couple that I use every day. I started with two 510 kits but now am using two box mods(1-510 and 1-801) and a flashlight mod that I made. For me, the mods I made with the bigger 14500 batteries made alot of difference in how my 510 hit. They create more vapor than with the standard 510 batteries. As far as maintenance, I blow the attys out from the battery end onto a paper towel each night before bed and let them sit upside down overnight. I haven't had to rinse out mine in over a month. The only reason I do that is if they get hard to draw through. When I get up, I re-assemble them on the battery boxes and drip a couple drops on the atty and top off my cart. The flavor I get seems to be consistent each day. The only time I get a bad taste is if I chain vape and get the atty too dry. I saw in an earlier post that said you were topping off alot. I did this alot at first and got liquid in my mouth. Do you think the bad taste might be you getting some liquid in your mouth at first? After you top off and take a couple drags, look at the little hole on the end of your cart. When I would overfill, I would see a little drop forming by the hole. I am sure you would know if you were getting alot in your mouth but maybe it's just a little and it's ruining the taste for you. Just a couple of ideas! Good luck!

If you're mobile a lot (classes all day til 8, ouch) I'd suggest looking into a KR808D-1 Either from Vapor4Life/Nhaler/CigEasy. They're a lot easier to deal with when ou're mobile so much, battery life is much greater than the 510 and you can still refill the cartomizers. It's a 2 piece model and there's 2 ways to refill it. When I was working 7am-11pm I kept 2 in my pocket with a backup in my bag in the office in a PCC to switch out if I needed to. Never had an issue for 10 straight days. I refilled my carts in the morning and they lasted all day.
That would be my suggesiton anyways :)

I ordered like 10 15ml bottles. and it shipped from utah to alabama in about three days, and then it went back to utah...because my apt # wasn't on the box... then it had to be reshipped back to me... i'm just now figuring out that it was this shipment that traveled so much (my orders all run together in my head...ordering on whims everytime i see something i want), and im thinking that's probably why. i bought the liquid from jason at electronicstix.com. and he's really great. as soon as i realized the juice was my problem i figured it was a bad batch or something. i contacted him about it, he got some of the same liquid he sent me, tested, and said that it was fine on his end and that no one else had reported a bad batch. so, im pretty sure it was just because my package got jumbled around for 9 days in the postal service..... so very very sad. I really don't think it was anything to do with him. Service has always been Great there!
