No need to oxidize SS wick?

According to the supplier of SS wick material to e-Ciggies, it is not oxidized and
there is no need to oxidize. This does not make sense.

Hmm. Does sound strange. All the reviews I have seen on ss mesh wicks say that they should be oxidized first. Except of course those pre-oxidized, pre-rolled ones that some vendors sell.
