I hate soldering, and I don't like my equipment breaking. I want to mod my connectors so that there is no soldering involved. I envision pulling the post, drilling the hole bigger, replacing the post with a very small circular steel or copper tube, with a plastic or rubber sheath, then clamping the positive wire into the end of the tube, and squishing the negative wire in between the 510 connector and the body of the device. Has anyone done something similar? Thoughts?

Side note, is there a plumbing part that an atomizer screws into?

Ok.
Maybe, try this.
Only use the outer part of the 510. You can drill and tap a small hole for a screw near the bottom to make the electrical contact.
For the centre pin, use a brass rivet such as these Brass Rivets - Lee Valley Tools
You may have to turn down the head a bit on a lathe.
The insulator can be turned from Delrin

A good solder connection doesnt break. The wire breaks. Crimped connections will break even faster since the wire is deformed during the crimp process. A solder connection can be cleaned and resoldered if the wire breaks, you cant pull that off with a crimped connection. Solder connections offer less resistance than crimped connections. I dont see how you feel it is a better connection. The only thing more reliable would be a pure mechanical mod with no wires.
