I've had my Nova-S Pyrex BDC's sitting in my desk drawer since I got tired of poor quality BDC coils and went to wrapping my own coils in RDA's and RTA's a while ago and I never thought I'd use them again. With all the talk about these new BVC coils I figured it was worth a shot to snag a pack of coils and see what was what.

To say I'm impressed is putting it mildly!

If you haven't yet checked them out you should definitely do yourself a favor and drop a dime on a pack. Snagged mine from Sweet-Vapes and they were in my mailbox in two days.

I was very impressed for the first day I used them. Then on the second day the coil started gurgling like crazy and leaked a little bit. Replaced the coil and within 30 minutes of using it that one started gurgling too. Tried a third in a different clearo and that one is gurgling a bit, though not as bad as the other two. I'm still getting good flavor, but they're pretty loud and I've had hot juice hit my tongue a couple times.

Day two here and no gurgles, flooding or dry hits.

I'm only using it about 30% of the time alternating with my Smok RSBT. My Aspire Nova-S Pyrex with the BVC is full of my menthol homebrew...typically I'll use it for about an hour and put it aside and grab my RSBT with unflavored (My ADV). When I'm hitting on it though I'm hammering it for 15 to 20 hits before I put it aside.

All's good here.

Your wick is too wet you need to open the air flow and take lighter draws.

easy way to fix the gurgling... make sure the head ( area-coil ) is wiped clean... then over ONE of the holes used to let e-liguid
seep into the enclosed vertical coil place a small strip of tape covering 1 of the 3 holes showing.

gurgling will be a thing of the past... enjoy:)

These have 4 holes. What kind of tape will stay on when submerged in the juice?

I am using regular Scotch tape it's transparent tape.... after making sure the coils small tank is wiped c;ean
I only had use a small quarter inch square quarter of an inch ... if the surface is clean
when you attach that small square over 1 of the holes .... smooth it so there are no air pockets and it will stay
right where it belongs without every falling off.

The second coil in the ET-S just leaked all over the connector, so tried the tape on the first coil I took out. Seems to have gotten rid of the gurgling, but now I'm getting a slightly chemical burnt taste and smell, like it's melting the tape or something.

EDIT: After maybe 20 puffs the weird taste seems to be going away, hopefully I wasn't inhaling tape adhesive... A bit ridiculous that I have to put tape on coils to get them to work. I got the 1.8 ohm coils from Sweet-Vapes, probably from the same shipment as the OP's.

More volts or loosening your lip grip on the drip tip to valve in some air along with the vape while inhaling should alleviate the gurgles. You are sucking in more fluid than your device can vaporize right? Either of these methods or adding that air controller will fix what ails ya.

BTW...that weird taste was just your new coil I would guess.

It was the first coil that I replaced when it leaked after a day and a half, didn't have the weird taste before. I'm running them at 10-11 watts, which is as high as my MVP goes. I tried inhaling as little as I possibly can, even tried without my lips touching the tip at all. They still gurgle and leak without the tape covering one of the holes

I bought some of the new BVCs to go in my Aspire ET and ET-S tanks. The first 2 I tried to use, I got an awful taste. I puffed without hitting the fire button on my ego style battery a few times, then let it sit, tried a few more puffs, then hit the fire button....awful, weird taste. I don't know if I am just used to the BDCs. I was able to find some replacement BDCs at Vapor Authority. I don't know what is going on with the BVCs. The BDCs don't take that long to wick properly.

All I did with mine was drip three drops into the top of the coil...pop it into the tank...fill and let it sit for about 10 minutes. First few puffs are always a little iffy with any new coil so I just do several hits blowing it out immediately and then a few dry pulls to make sure it's all flowing well. Did that and all was fine here.

BDC coils can be nasty the first few hits as well in my experience.

I found out on my own that you can draw extra juice into a Mini Nautilus BVC by sucking on the tip while blocking the air intake with a finger or slight turn of the adjusting ring. (No power applied.) If it's quiet you will hear a gurgle when the vacuum you are applying draws a certain load of juice into the coil area. BTW, this could also be a method for "priming" a fresh or otherwise dry BVC if you don't want to wait for the recommended 2 minutes and are careful.
So, what to do when you've got the major gurgles and very little vapor because your BVC is too wet? Turn your rig upside down and draw without hitting the switch until the excess juice flows out, then spit. Seriously. I did it and it worked with the Mini Nautilus.

As with almost everything else in the vaping world, there seems to be a bit of a learning curve with these coils. I had all the bad experiences above with the first couple. They are more finicky than the Nautilus BVCs and have a longer "break-in" period. My limited experience is that a drop or two of unflavored juice directly into the coil prior to installation and running it at a minimum of about 4 volts or 9 watts (with the 1.6 ohm version) works out just about right for me in the ET-S (I've drilled out the air holes) and in the Beyond Vape Silo Lite. On my non-variable Ego style batteries, they seem to do OK with a full charge, but when the voltage output starts dropping a little the gurgling comes back. I also don't think the flavor is quite as good as it is with the Nautilus BVCs. We'll see. I think they'll just take a little getting used to and they'll be fine. The real question, for me, is how long are they going to last. There needs to be a significant difference in longevity to make the price justifiable, for me, because the taste, while it improves after break-in, simply isn't as good as the Nautilus BVC (IMHO).

Can't comment on the longevity as of yet...nor the use on a standard EGO battery. I do know they can take a lot more voltage than the old BDC's can. Mine would burn at near 4 volts but these BVC's seem to like the higher voltage for sure...ran one for a bit on my Stingray with a fresh VTC5 and it had no problem keeping up and produced nice vapor. Swapped it over to my spinner that I set at 4.1 with my multimeter and it's happy as a clam...even bumped it up to higher voltage for a few hits and it ate it up no problem.

As to longevity, I either vape unflavored or my menthol homebrew (from crystals) so I won't be able to give a fair assessment as coils tend to last a long while with those two liquids...I've had BDC coils go 6 weeks between changes (and some died in a couple days which is why I "retired" those tanks the first time!)

All I can really say is that--for me--they far and away exceed the BDC's in every way.

As always--your mileage may vary ;)
