So I decided to make my first 5v box mod. I wanted a long run time so I ordered a pair of 18650s. When they arrived I realized my mistake. These things are HUGE! I decided to just deal with it and went to Radio Shack in search of a suitable box to put it in. Long story short is.. I made the box mod and it works well, but it's way too big. I would like to know what the largest capacity battery is that will still fit in a AA size enclosure.

It's not a monster, it's a table PV. Or a conversation piece for when company comes over. Something you can throw in the trunk and just drive with-- yeah you want some 14500's, made to fit AA and only slightly bulging when they went and added a bit in the length for a protection pcb.
Ya, it's pretty ridiculous. It's like vaping on a walkie-talkie or a 2000 model cell phone. I'll put up some pics. It's my first mod so it's kinda ghetto. But the electronics are solid as a rock. I am real proud of the wiring job.
I think it looks pretty cool. It could always double as a weapon. Seriously though, I can't wait to try to make some mods. I hope my first one comes out half as clean your first attempt.

Beefy yes, but you've done nice work with it. And it can always be that trusty fallback device that you know still has some mAh left.
Ya, unfortunately that didn't occur to me until I had all the holes drilled. Lesson learned.
