I am trying to create my own liquids. I can't quite get the flavor right. I realize it is a personal preference, but can I get some insight on peoples feelings towards what the components are? What is your pref regarding PG/VG mix. I have been using 50/30 20 for LorAnn.

Also should I be waiting a while after making. Somewhere i read it is good to let the mixture sit over night before vaping. Is this so?

Any help, thoughts, or your personal recommendations would be greatly appreciated at this point.

Thanks,

I keep 2 large bottles of 80% PG / 20% VG premixed at all times. Then I just have to measure and pour into 30 ml bottle and then add nic juice and then flavorings.
The flavor I make most of the time is menthol tobacco.
My menthol base I make is Everclear and menthol crystals which I also keep a large bottle made up all the time.

It makes mixing alot easier this way. I just have to grab a 30 ml bottle, pour in 10 mls pg/vg mix, 10 mls nic juice, 6 mls tobacco (I use Dunhill from My Freedom Smokes) and 4 mls menthol base. It DOES taste better the next day...lol

It was alot of trial and error before I got this mix the way I like it.

I use between 20-25% VG but others prefer it different. Maybe try a hot water bath. Put your mixed bottle in a glass of very warm water and allow it to cool down to room temperature. I do this for chocolates and flavors that need to mature and it helps some.

how much flavoring do you use? what type do you use? i have been using lorann. will have to try the bath....see what happens thanks

MOST I use 20% but some flavors that's too much. My favorite flavoring vendor by far is Capella but that's because I like rich dessert flavors and I think theirs has more density. FlavourArt has the best fruit flavors and many like Perfumer's Apprentice. I haven't had as good a luck with PA as with Capella but that may just be my preference for chocolates and depth to flavors.

There are a few tricks to help bring out the flavor - like a drop of raspberry in chocolate brings out the chocolate flavor, so does hazelnut or coconut. I add Capella Vanilla Custard to anything that would have vanilla in it and that gives it a lot of depth, too. So just adding MORE of the same flavoring isn't necessarily the answer.

Thanks that was really helpful. Where do you buy your capellas from?

I started DIY with Lorann flavorings but found many of them to perfumy or just plain nasty. I still use them occasionally but as a side note to another flavor.

Once I switched to Perfumers Apprentice and Capella flavorings, my DIY mixing became a much better experience.
