OKay, I wanted to get into DIY and then won a DIY starter kit from the forum. . . wooooo. So now I have a nice little kit to begin playing with, and I'm totally STUMPED.

So aside from all of the beakers, syringes and bottles I got:
-60ml of PG USP Grade
-60ml of VG USP Grade
-60ml of VG/PG 50/50 mix
-60mg nic 50/50 (in my head this would be easiest to work with since it was already 50/50?)

and 6 bottles of juice:
Coffee
Chocolate
Cafe (coffee with cream)
Strawberry
Pumpkin
Cheesecake

I've been reading the DIY forums, playing with calculators and generally I feel like I have a good idea of what to do and how to do it. . .

But, I can't make the JUMP!

Dawn's recommendation on her page (the kit is from DIY flavor shack) is:
Starting points: Citrus 5-8%
tobacco 10-15%
Creamy flavors (Vanilla Custard or French Vanilla, etc.) 15-20%
Expert Flavors 5-10%
Note: These are recommended starting points. You may need more or less based on personal preference.

So should I just start out with my base and nicotine (as calculated) and add a bit of each flavor to see what it tastes like, or should I jump straight into trying to mix them? Or does anybody have any ideas for a REALLY basic (like two ingredient) thing I can do with just these.

I think I'm scared that I'm going to make something that is completely un vapeable and waste my supplies.

:D

Any help is appreciated.

It is up to you how you want to start. You can mix single flavors at first to get a feel for things, or you can jump in and start mixing multiple flavors. I would recommend you look over some recipes to get an idea of what %'s and flavor combinations work and make some small 5ml batches for testing. Also, look at some YouTube videos on diy to get a better feel for how to diy, as explaining it in words can only show you so much. Do not be scared about wasting e juice, as it happens to everyone, and that is why you should start with 5 or 10 ml sample mixes.

I'd suggest mixing a small amount with no flavor, just so you get a sense of the flavor of unflavored (plain). For example, if your current nic level is 12mg, then put 1ml of 60mg 50:50 and 4ml of 50:50, shake, and you'll have 5ml of 12mg 50:50 unflavored. Vape it for a bit ... it might not be exciting, but your first mix will be vapeable :D

Then you can slowly move into the flavored concoctions.

eJuice Me Up - Best eJuice Calculator get familiar with this, there are videos on youtube if you get lost.
I would do a couple single flavors 10ml bottle, start flavors lower say 3% and add more drops / shake till it's good to you. Some of the custard / bakery flavors will not shine for a few days at least so let those sit and steep in a drawer.

I had to use a different calculator. Unfortunately, my ancient macbook does NOT like that program. :(

But, I made just a 5ml bottle of plain strawberry, as of day one, it needs some more flavor, but I'm worried if I add more it's going to dilute my nicotine. Though, thinking about it, as long as I'm adding just a drop or two, I guess it wouldn't have THAT big of an effect on it.

It was fun though! Like being back in HS chemistry class. :D
