Noob here lookin to talk about my subtank

Hey everyone. I just got my clouper mini 30 and subtank nano. Love my setup but having some troubles with burnt wicks, hoping to find some help here

My first coil I used was the 1.2 Ohm at 17W mostly using 60/40 mix from vapers knoll. I ran this coil and it was absolutely fantasticfor about 3 weeks until I started tasting the burnt taste. At which I also switched to a MAX VG fluid. Could MAX or 70/30 liquid cause less liquid to get on the wick?

I then replaced the 1.2 ohm with a .5 ohm and fired at 22 Watts. Burned the coil in 10 hits. (I primed and let it sit, etc)

I am taking about 3-4 second hits and full air valve.

I then put in a new 1.2 ohm and burned it up in a day. I then learned I could replace / rewick the cotton. I seem to be replacing the cotton every 6 hours under normal use (3 tanks per day). Also If I take a really slow hit, I taste the burnt taste. I have to take really fast inhales so there is no burnt taste...

Any input would be greatly appreciated. Sorry for the long post.

I have a Nano i have not had any burnt taste with mine, on my istick i keep it around 10 watts and on my Kamry around 15 watts. i have been using the same coil for 3 weeks now, the coils are very easy to rebuild i rebuilt my 1.2 ohm to a .5 ohm

I love your signature counter. I should have one myself. I have been 6 months so far. Yea I am still clue less as to why I am still burning wicks. I am leaning towards too much VG liquid, its the only thing I changed. What VG are you using?

Hi, welcome to ECF.
I'm using max vg in all my subtanks, with the occ coils and with the rba. I'm not getting anywhere near weeks of use but 4 days of heavy use is normal for me before they don't produce much vapor any more. (between 14 and 18 watts)

I had one, just one, occ coil last half a day and it was producing a burnt taste. I might have caused that myself because it was outside all day, well below freezing...wasn't wicking very well probably.

So anyway, moral of this story: max vg is fine with occ coils.

OK I think I figured out the problem. I was not packing enough cotton "wick" into the coil housing. Before I was just putting a single strip thru the coil and cutting off the ends and would get burn taste almost immediately. This time I left about 2mm on the ends of the cotton and then stuffed it in the holes. Worked flawlessly. Vaped all day so far and no issues... Fingers crossed.
