I would really like to stop smoking and get into vaping, but I am confused by the whole thing. I know I want the evic body, or something comparable if you have recommendations, with a tank system. I do t like the idea of carts. I have read a lot about the pro tank and the I clear but I don't understand how they work or what's needed. If I wanted to order a setup today what is everything I need to get? I'd like to order everything so that when it arrives I can get started. Also with these tank systems are the coils in the atomizer heads? Thank you for your time reading this. I appreciate any help you can provide.

You can't go wrong with an ego twist and an evod tank. Low price, easy to use. The vape switch van be a confusing and initially expensive one but compare your budget to what you spend smoking.

Also probably best avoid cheap eBay stuff as it's usually knock off and poor quality.

The variable voltage of an ego twist makes all the difference over normal 3.7 v batteries... just take my word on that.

The evod is basically a pro tank in different clothing.

I can help with the protank--basically this is a bottom coil tank. It's pyrex, which means you can put any juice you want in it. The plastic tanks are fine, but some juices will crack them--I just cracked an Evod, which is a plastic tank, by putting cinnamon flavored juice in it. Protank is also practical in that you can simply take it apart and clean it easily if you want to.

The coil is, yes, in the head. The tank itself is not disposable, but the head is; when the juice starts tasting funky, you toss the old head, and screw in a new head. The heads come in packs of five, and you should be able to get a pack for under $10. The Protank itself comes with two extra heads and a little instruction manual.

Protank's drip tip (the part you suck on) is replaceable. It comes with a very nice metal tip, but if you don't like that, you can get any 510 compatible drip tip. They're usually pretty cheap.

These are the heads:

these types of tips will fit your tank:

Like the Evod, the Protank has removable atomizers you can buy in different ohm values. In fact the Evod and Protank heads are often interchangeable. People complained about the airy draw of the original Protank which seems to have been fixed in the Protank 2 and 3.

The Evic will take any tank you want to connect to it so you can start with a Protank and see if you like it.

You would need to buy: An Evic starter kit (not just the Evic unit), some juice flavors you like, a Protank and a pack of extra Protank heads.

Greetings Crashnburn, welcome to the forum!

I personally use Davide clearomizers (made by Anyvape), which are very similar to the Pro Tank 2 (they can use the same replacement heads). I like this design a lot, and get a pretty decent vape from it, though of course YMMV. If you get a PT or EVOD but don't especially enjoy the vape you get from it, just keep trying different things until you find something that does work, cartomizers, top coil clearomizers (such as the Vivi Nova), and so on.

The EVic looks like it will work with pretty much anything in the way of cartomizers or clearomizers. Good luck!

Regards
Glenn

Thanks again everyone for the assistance. Just placed my order for the evic starter kit and the protank 2. Tried for the protank 3 but they were out of stock. Maybe in a few months Ill upgrade. Couple last questions, what is the average lifespan of the coils? I know it is based on how much you vap but just a ballpark would be nice. Also I noticed that there is PG/VG with liquids. What is this and how do I determine what to use?

[EDIT] Quick search revealed the pg/vg answer.

It also depends on the type of liquid you use. With a light liquid I get up to two weeks of heavy vaping from a head, but with a thick dark liquid it may last only one or two days. The ratio of VG will also have an affect because VG tends to gunk up faster than PG.

Another factor is heat. If you burn the head in a Protank it will drastically reduce it's life and may causes it to taste bad. I've written an ECF blog on this subject but don't want to bombard you with too much information. Make sure you leave the Protank a few minutes for the coil to soak up the liquid when you first fill it, and keep the power to 6 watts and you should have no problems. Once you know what it is supposed to taste like you can start to play with the power, but turning it up much past this on factory heads will cause burning sooner or later (probably sooner).

It's possible to clean the head by dry burning so don't throw them away. A good head is worth cleaning regardless of economic factors in my opinion, however it is fiddly and many people do not want to be bothered with this (I also have a blog on this subject).

Congratulations on deciding on a healthier lifestyle. I stopped smoking on the day my first e-cig arrived. *Nothing* works as well if you want to kick the habit.

Pg-propylene glycol. Vg-vegetable glycerin. Base liquids that flavors and if u so choose, nicotine are mixed with. Very subjective as to what ratio a person likes/tolerates. Great information/knowledge base on ECF to read up on, but sometimes a matter of trial and error. For me at the moment I'm liking a 50/50 to a 65/35 (pg-vg) mix. There are so many good quality vendors out there, but that is part if the fun and allure of giving up the stinkies in favor of vaping! :)
