Gurus....

I have been using ecigs now for around 18 months.
My current set up is a Joyetech evic, with a Kanger Pro-tank2
I have tried numerous tanks (generally from totally wicked) and yet I am still not getting the amount of vape that I desire
The protank2 is generally ok for about 2 or 3 days, then I end up having to replace the coil - having ramped up over the course of the week from 3.4v to 5v as the vape gets weaker. Its becoming an expensive way of meeting my vape needs.

Can anyone recommend anything that will work with my evic that will give me TONS of vape, and will last more than a few days?

I am not adverse to dipping my toes into the rebuildable tank kits if needs be, although I am a complete noob. I have no idea what to buy or even how to begin. Ive explored several sites selling many kits, but I really dont have a clue on how to begin, or whether this is the right path to move onto?

Please share any tips or advice - Im completely lost!

Or if rebuildable is not the right path, is there a better tank/replacable coil system to try? I just cant keep on going through coils at this rate.

Any advice truly appreciated! Thanks all.

Hi Burton and welcome to ECF!

The most obvious (and easiest) solution would be to try dual coil clearomizers like iTaste i16 or i30 or the Aspire BDC. Two coils will give you twice the vapor, but will also increase your juice consumption and your batteries will have to be recharged more often.

You may also try to increase the VG content in your ejuice--VG produces more vapor that PG.

BTW, replacement coils for Kanger BCCs are only a dollar or so here, and they can be cleaned several times before they need to be discarded. Just soak them in PGA or any cheap strong vodka every couple of days or so.

Good luck!

You may also want to have a look at cartomizers and tanks. You can try out a single and/or dual coil cartomizer before investing in tanks. The iClears are great and I am most likely going to be using them for my dark colored juices (they thrash cartomizers and bottom coils as well). I like the Boge XL LR (F16) cartomizers. They cost about a dollar or so apiece. I get them from vapelite.info. Good luck and have fun!

The Aspire BDC get quite a lot good reviews, I really want to try one  but yeah, cartomizer and cartomizer-tank is another way to go, I used to vape on this with vamo for a while and get more vapor than a clearomizer.

RBA/DA are quite a different story here. You have to wrap your own coils, if you want to get your feet wet then check out the sub forum here, tons of info there. :)

Cheers

The Russian, Kayfun, Fogger 2, The Aqua, Terminator-C, all are fine rba.s and there are many more. The Aspire BDC is a great step up from a protank. It can handle pretty high watts, was able to take one for a test drive, and I maxed it out on my provare, ~15 watts, and was impressed. Probably the next best thing to an rba with a good build. I have found that the Russian, or Kayfun, is an excellent rba to start with. Easy to build, and every build I've done on it has worked well.

rba's, while not for everyone, are fraking awesome. Fair warning though, Once you head down the path of rba's there is no turning back. One will never be satisfied with anything else. And, you will begin the search to find bigger and better rba's. My favorite today, is the Russian. My goal is to find one that will put it to shame. Quite possibly this will happen when I wake up, because the Aqua is in route to my vapebox. Paid more for the Aqua than I did for my Provari. Yeah, the P is not looking all that expensive any more.

I'm sure you'll love the Aspire, but once you want more, start checking out the different styles or rba's. Check out the micro coil build thread, the dragon build, and many more. Get familiar with what's out there, focus on what makes sense to you and makes you say "I cand do that". Nothing like the joy of trying out a new style of build on a new rba and getting a fantastic vape.

I currently vape at 15 watts, juicy taste, and great clouds. Sometimes, when using my mech and a sub-ohm build, it's up past 25 watts. But to be able to vape at those levels, one must have a build that can wick like crazy, and plenty of air supply. It don't happen over night, but the journey is a kick in the pants.

Good luck on your path to vapeness. Everything need to know is in this forum

Vape long and Prosper.!!

Yeah, what Dice said. I've been there, at the want-more-vape point, and ended up with mechs and RBA's. Once there there's no turning back, and I would not consider using anything else.

I just put a new .8 ohm coil on my RSST and I'm making very good and tasty clouds. Many will urge you to get into drippers. I've not tried one yet myself, simply because I've been so very happy with my RBA's and don't see the need. YMMV of course, and you might want to go that way.

Anyway, I'd like to suggest getting yourself an RSST and playing with that. It's a marvelous beginner RBA with some very nice features, and very easy to set up, once you arrive at your wicking solution. The RSST is cheap, you can pick one up for less than $30, and it will serve you well for a very long time.

Burton, i would def get into dripping and rebuilding. Its Simple i promise. I would get a Octopuss or a Nimbus Clone or anythnin cheap in price, some 32g Kanthal wire and 2mm Silica. Watch a couple of youtube videos and you will be making clouds of vapor in no time man. After you get comfortable with everything i would switch to Cotton or Ekowool. I think Cotton is the best for wicking and its super super cheap. Go buy some cotton balls and you got enough wicking material to last a year or more. You will def tell yourself why didnt i start dripping ages ago.

If you are just set in your ways and not wanting to drip i would stick with the Protank and just rebuild your coils. But def dripping is the way to go!

Burton,

Sounds like you want to "tune" to your own taste and vapor production preferences. The rebuildables look very scary when you see all that's out there. That being said, RBA (rebuildable atomizer tanks), or RDA (rebuildable drip atomizers) are a good option for what you are seeking.

Tanks are a good choice if you like to have alot of fluid with you during the day, but a good drip atomizer (RDA) is an even better choice in my opinion for several reasons.

#1. You can buy a decent RDA for under 10 bucks

#2. You can infinitely modify the coils, wicks, airflow, to suit your liking

#3. The parts for building your own coils are pennies per coil

#4. The flavor and vapor production are far superior to tank systems (imho).

#5. You can immediately change flavors "on the fly"

#6. You CAN build a RDA that will hold LOTS of juice, (comparable to 2 or 3 ml tanks systems)

I am pretty new to the RDA systems and already love the customizable aspect of them. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to assemble or build them if you follow a few simple rules of which you can get massive amounts of help on here on the forum.

Here's a build I just recently finished and it works awesome.

This one sounds scary but it is a " Verticle quad coil with quad twisted 32 gauge nichrome @ 0.35 ohms"

It funny for me to say that as it's my second build of a RDA.

Keep the Forum and Youtube in your back pocket.

Good luck!!

burtonj8,
I was super hesitant to jump in to rebuildables. I just built my first one today without a hitch and have been a fog machine all morning.

Let me back up a bit. I did TONS of research watching videos, reading articles, and talking to fellow vapers before actually buying my first set up. I ended up getting the Igo-l Atty (I drilled the air hole to .093" before anything) with 30g kanthal wire coiled 5 times and 2.5 mil ekowool wick doubled up. I was very surprised at how good my set up came out testing at 1.5 ohms, exactly what I was shooting for and tasting great from the first rip.

The whole thing was surprisingly easy once I got past my initial fears of totally screwing something up and vaping some nasty dry chemical filled hit.

I should also mention I'm using an itaste MVP power supply to run the whole thing.

Good luck and happy vaping!

Eli

Thanks everyone for your advice and tips. Very much appreciated.

Im now about 10 days into using an Anyvape Davide BDC tank system, and have to say that the amount of vape is much better (I could still handle more, but this is the best tank system Ive used so far). The BDC atomiser is beginning to get a bit weaker now, but still useable. New atty every 10-14 days is acceptable compared to every 3-4 days experienced with the Protank.

I have a set of 8 more attys to get through to give this system a full and thorough test :)
Ill keep you posted of my results.

Next steps.... rebuildables! Once I have done a LOT more research :)

Thanks again all.

I'll agree with a few others in that once you build and vape your first RBA/RDA you won't settle for anything less. I started with a RSST, which is a great entry level RBA, super easy to build and it vapes great. Then went to a dual coil AGA-TD which was a little harder to set up but still pretty easy. Then I received the Atomic RDA by MCV and holly crap. The vapor production this thing puts down is unbeat. Its official, all my PT2, iClear 30, and other BCC devices have officially been put on the inactive reserves. I now take the Atomic RDA and mech to work with me because the BCCs and other clearo's just don't do it for me anymore.

Good luck on your vaping adventure!
