i bought 2. the first one was a piper and i needed to pull the pin up with tweezers in order to get it to work right. the second one i got is an ego-c 1100mah battery which i like a lot better, the cord behaves better, plus i can unplug it and use it if i want to.

a passthrough is an essential, it should be included in every starter kit.

You probably don't need a 5v Passthrough, if you're just looking to use it on your computer.

I just ordered a 510 PT from revolvercig for 15--only because I got $16 worth of store credit (so I only really paid 5 for shipping), which I can show you how to do.

I have no idea on quality, but I had the store credit and I didn't really want anything else, so for just the shipping cost it's worth the experiment.

Dont run a PT through your computer senorita vicki,,,, it's just not worth risking the board on your PC, get a wall wort, but all in all your better off with a good mod like the VV Reo, a Provari, Darwin, something of high quality, its gonna cost you more then all the cheaper stuff out there but in the long run these will last you for a longggggggggg time and no wires or plugs needed, take it where you go and vape on it,,, dont waste your time buying one ecig after another like many do, take the plunge right up front and your good to go, you get what you pay for in this industry like most any.

I would not suggest a provari or darwin for a noob. A lavatube at most. But throwing down 150+ on something before you even know you're going to enjoy it and stick with it is not a good idea.

I'm still using the same eGo batts from a year ago when I started vaping. I paid 60 and have not had the dying urge to throw down hundreds on a mod. I am not disappointed with the eGo.

The OP said good for the money PT. Not top of the line tube mod.

Ok so i think I found one Ego 510 variable volt 3.3 3.7 4.2 passthrough with 2.0 510 atty and boge 510 2.0 cart is that the right extras for the passthrough?? although its says a comp wont provide enough power I have plugs right by my comp and I have a v2 usb plug..

Reeaally good deal on that PT. I couldn't resist, even though I have one from Alien Visions, it was 5 bucks more and it's only 3.7v and while I'm not complaining, it's never a bad idea to have a backup. :D
The only thing I don't like thinking about is having to be around an outlet to plug the 5v PT into. I already have one power strip filled by my 'puter so the next outlet is too far away.

The USB 2.0 specification says the USB port has to support up to 500ma (0.5Amp) of current ... but if you run a 2 Ohm Carto at 4.2 volts, you will be drawing 2100ma (2.1Amp) ... the USB port on your computer may be able to supply that, but its way way beyond the spec and you run the real risk of causing damage to your computer.

Actually, I have a question about the batteries with passthru if someone knows ... does the battery supply the power to the attachment, and the charging occurs in the background when the battery is idle, or is the draw direct from the usb plug? If its the battery that is actually powering the attachment, then the background charging I assume would draw less than the 500ma USB 2.0 standard and could be plugged into a computer safely ... if that is indeed how it works.

get a variable volt, it is the only step you need to take.
