Actually, I have a question about the batteries with passthru if someone knows ... does the battery supply the power to the attachment, and the charging occurs in the background when the battery is idle, or is the draw direct from the usb plug? If its the battery that is actually powering the attachment, then the background charging I assume would draw less than the 500ma USB 2.0 standard and could be plugged into a computer safely ... if that is indeed how it works.

I'm not sure if all passthru batteries work alike, but I CAN say that with my eGo passthru battery I vape from the battery when it's plugged in, not from the USB connection. If I use it after it's fully charged but still plugged in, the charging light will light up, indicating that power was drawn from the battery itself. So for the model that I have it's only the battery that powers the PV. The USB cable only charges the battery.

Ego pass throughs are not true pass throughs. It's a battery that can be charged while being used. The power used when firing and vaping is from the battery not the USB. It's as if you took a normal batt off and vaped it right then.

So, I'm not a electrician mind you, but I don't think there should be a problem with using that set up on your PC usb, since the amp pulled through the carto is not related to the amp pulled through the battery in the USB.

What will happen is, if your battery dies and you plug it in and immediately try to vape, it won't fire. Even right now when my batt (standard ego PT) dies and I plug it in, I need to wait a good minute before I start vaping on it, otherwise it goes for 2 secs and then it flashes at me.

I think an ego PT is probably the ideal PT. There are only 4 reasons to get anything else:
1. You have 808/901/etc. hardware and can't use 510.
2. You have a budget. Ego PT at standard price are about 19-23 (mean is about 21) depending on vendor. Like you and others have pointed out, you can get others for less.
3. You want to experiment with higher voltage vaping. You're only going to get that ~3.4 V loaded on an eGo.
4. You are morally opposed to eGo style batts.

Honestly, with ego PTs, there really isn't a reason to get a standard batt in the first place. You can make a good kit with 2 PT batts and 10 carto's/2 atomizers+cartridges for the same price as a normal kit.

Only thing I would add is if, like me, you are vested in "standard" battery voltage vaping, a 5V passthru is quite a step up in power, keeping in mind that power(watts) is a function of the voltage squared. A 3 Ohm carto at 3.4V is running at 3.85Watts, the same carto at 5V is running at 8.33 Watts.... a 47% increase in voltage has resulted in a 116% increase in power. You may or may not like what such an increase in power does to a given attachment that you normally would use on a standard batt ... it will certainly be different though. I'm a 808d guy, so I have a regulated 3.6V penstyle passthru ... I use what works on my batts on my passthru and the experience is the same, which is the way I like it. That said, a 5V passthru is an avenue to experimentation with higher voltage vaping if thats what you're into. Good Luck with whatever you choose.

Ok I sealed my order just now and ended up getting the ego 510 variable Volt Passthrough with 3.3, 3.7, 4.2 with 510 connection along with the 2.0 ohm 510 atty and 510 carts high resistance from sweet vapes for 31.50 with shipping. the electroni Stix was a few dollars less. But with all the great Info I received from everyone I though the variable Volt would be better choice nd Sweet Vapes has great customer Service..I will let you know how it works out.. Im So excited..Thanks a Bunch all of you :) Vicki

oh, thats a very nice setup.
those 2 ohms will serve you very well.
hit em with all you got.
those hr, i hope your not turned off.
i would not use hr over 4.2 volts, (or 3.6, personally, actually dont use em.), (they need atleast 5 volts)
but, know you will love the 2 ohms.
used myself, still do, the joytech brand.
get the booge, xxl's they are, in my opinion, all you need.

Smoktech 2.5ohm Tank Dual Coil Cartomizer Refill 5 pack $9.25 get the low res, perfect for you, with the tank, or get the smaller one, with stainless steel caps.
thats what i usually use. with this tank: Smoktech 6ml Tank Dual Coil Cartomizer Clear With Drip Tip $8.95

been using these: Boge Cartomizer 5 Pack SR $6.95

that was a very nice price, by the way.

what is electrostix?

Dont run a PT through your computer senorita vicki,,,, it's just not worth risking the board on your PC, get a wall wort, but all in all your better off with a good mod like the VV Reo, a Provari, Darwin, something of high quality, its gonna cost you more then all the cheaper stuff out there but in the long run these will last you for a longggggggggg time and no wires or plugs needed, take it where you go and vape on it,,, dont waste your time buying one ecig after another like many do, take the plunge right up front and your good to go, you get what you pay for in this industry like most any.
well said my friend
been there bought that...
