Hi, I'm new to vaping (and love it, I can't keep my batteries charged) but want to make my own juice.
Fist off I was wondering if alcohol extracts (for example flavor extracts sold for food) were usable. Clearly there is some problems with heating up alcohol and inhaling it. But in proper dilution it would seem like it would work (and not catch on fire).
But more importantly I was hoping to get redirected to some good reads on the topic. Most threads here that I've read seem to be reliant on e-juice companies flavoring, that's just not quite DIY enough for me. I'd rather pick some wintergreen and make my own extracts.
I'm also quite interested in nicotine extraction (thought that belongs on a sub forum). I don't know if I trust my home lab skills that much, but it would be fun to learn more about the topic.

Thanks!

I think many of the food flavors you'd get in a store are weak compared to the stuff usually used in DIY. Maybe some would work though. I'm not sure.
Check out the sub forum of this section (tobacco extraction). There are lots of threads on extracting your own flavors. Also, there's a good thread around here in the DIY section on coffee extraction - the info could be used for extracting a variety of other flavors.
I could be wrong, but I think nicotine extraction isn't something that you could easily do at home. I think when people do strong tobacco extracts hardly any nic. makes it through.

Thanks Leo! What I'm now gathering on nic extraction is that it's quite possible but to make it strong enough for use would be dangerous with out proper testing. Seems like buying known strength stuff and adding it to tobacco flavor extract is the safe way to go. I think I'll pick up some VG and some pipe tobacco today and start playing around. I'd like to put together a vacuum chamber so I can concentrate things with out using the stove.... anyway, I'll be doing write ups on my experiments.
