some quick and dirty info
The thicker the wire, the lower resistance it is.
The longer the wire(or the more wraps on ur coil/the bigger the diameter of ur coil) the higher the resistance is.

Example
lets say do a 8 wrap micro coil made with 28 guage kanthal and it turned out to be 1 ohm
now if you do a 10 wrap of the same coil/wire it might be 1.2 ohms

now if you did the same 8 wrap micro coil made with 26 guage kanthal,it will be a lower resistance(say 0.8 ohms)
10 wrap with 26 guage will be higher resistance(say 1 ohms)

These numbers are not accurate I just used them for a example

EDIT:
some other things to note.
When you build your coil, you want to make sure that the coil is not touching anything(the posts, the bottom deck, the top cap etc).
Measure ur resistance with the top cap on before use to make sure ur coil isnt making contact with the top cap.

So now that I've got a better grasp on coils and ohms. My next question is about wicking.
Instead of me flooding he forums with yet another thread I figure I'll ask I here. If that's ok.

Is there any huge difference when wicking? Like if I fluffed it up... Or pack it dense? Any tips for maximizing the efficiency of flavor, clouds etc.

Also is there any real difference between the cottons? Any type you prefer?

Dollar store cotton vs name brand cotton etc? Japanese cotton Egyptian cotton etc?

With hemp or cotton, you want just enough material to slide back and forth inside the coil with a little bit of resistance. Its very easy to choke the coil with too much wicking and get nasty hits. I use a bead threader instead of twisting my hemp, its just my preference.
And with Rayon you want more than cotton (enough so that it slightly pulls on the coil)

One of the questions I seem to have forgot to ask is. How often should one change coils?

Do certain coil builds require more rebuilding/cleaning?

I'm using a twisted Kanthal double coil build

Currently I give them a gentle rinse under the faucet, when I take out the cotton to change it out. I then fire them up and pinch them with some tweezers to help close any gaps that may have formed.

Anyways long story short it's at a .3 or a .2 I am loving it.

They are 30 amp I believe 30 or 20.

This may sound a bit harsh but so be it, this stuff can have serious consequences.

When you sub-ohm that low you MUST know EXACTLY what you have. You can't just guess or assume anything. You can't trust what someone else tells you, find the answers yourself. Don't push that button unless you know with out a doubt that you are safely within the limits of your battery.

A fully charged battery with a resistance at .2 ohm is higher than 20 amps. A slight error in your ohm meter and your amp draw is even higher than you think it is.

Any body have a guess on what stock batteries are at? I had generic no label batteries that came with my mod. (Used then or twice on builds that weren't sub ohms) Curious on if I could repurpose them for other things around the house or something. Or toss them lol.

Currently using the orange MKNE (Monkey?) batteries.

So I looked it up. The batteries I have are 25a. What's the threshold for sub ohming? I can't figure out the calculator.

I had my friend do me up a twisted 26 gauge Kanthal dual coil setup. Five wraps. We ohm read it. It's about .7 or .8.

Right now I've got my patriot RDA soaking in some vodka over night.

So if I were to repeat the same five wraps my self. Would it be ok. Or should I wait for my ohm reader to come back?

That doesn't sound right to me, since my 5 wrap twisted 28 single coil is 0.5 ohm. 25amps at 4.2V is 0.168 ohms but you should never reach that, id'e say 0.25-0.3 to be on the safe side. You should NEVER build anything without an ohm meter.

I won't ever go below .3 lol. I don't like the intensity.

I recoiled it same gauge wire. Same amount of wraps. Same diameter. (Like a small screwdriver shaft.)

I haven't fired it up. On account I don't have my ohm tester. But it should be the same ohms as my previous build yeah? Give it take .01 ohms.

Iike the difference between
.50 to .53?

Or would it be like a dramatic difference. Such as

.50 to like .20 (danger zone for my battery I know)

I'll have the local B&M store here use there ohm tester before I wick it up.

I dry fired the coils to temper them a little and bring the coils as close together as I could.

Has anybody seen or tried twisting G platt? I can't seem to find any videos on it. I'm not even sure if it's possible or safe. Just curious.

Reason I ask is because I'm currently using twisted Kanthal and loving it. After watching a few videos where they say its day and night between Kanthal and G Plat. I'm wondering if I should move into the G Plat and use the same concept/build.
