Noob Question: Reusing Cartomizers

I've read that cartomizers can be used indefinitely if you clean them. I was wondering if they need to be cleaned after every flavor change. As I'm new and would just be starting out, I'll likely buy some samplers and wonder if after one load of 555, when I refill with Cherry, if it'll still taste like 555?

It'll taste like 555 and cherry. They're cheap enough that most people just keep one carto for one particular flavor.

Don't count on being able to clean stuffing-type cartos. They are meant to be disposable. Some people succeed at cleaning and drying them and some do not. Don't count on yourself being able to do it unless you have already done it.

I also recommend you not use cartos to test juices. If you have a KR808D-1 (or Vapor4Life, Bloogplanet, V2, Smoketip, or other KR808D-1 threaded model) stick a standard resistance DSE901 atty on it for testing juices. You can use a drip tip if you hav manual batteries (just don't drip a lot in the atty since KR808D-1 manuals still have a hole in the end). If you have auto batteries use carts or buy a manual battery for testing juices. A KR808D-2 can use a DSE901 atty w/ a D2-to-D1 adapter from LeCig.

I only put juices I like in cartos - juices I want to vape for the life of the carto.

I recommend you just use the carto until you feel like it's time to throw it out, and then try to clean it instead. That way if they are ruined, it's not a loss.

Ok, i have a question, how do you know when to replace them?? When they dont heat anymore?? I still use my original attys that came with my Ego sometimes, and i have had them for 4 months now, can you use a cartomiser that long??Would it last that long? Thanks for any and all help!

Here's a good thread on cleaning cartomizers. I have had good success with the oral syringe, but some of them don't recover or don't taste right after cleaning. Like jangofett says, try cleaning them when you're ready to toss them anyway and if it works you have a bonus carto.

As for just reusing them with a different flavor, it's hit or miss. You'll never get all of the last flavor out without cleaning and combinations are sometimes good, sometimes bad. 555 and cherry actually sounds pretty good!

Cartomizers were originally designed to be disposable, so don't count on getting that kind of life out of them. Mine usually don't taste good or don't draw properly long before they're actually dead, though.

If I have a sample pack to try, if I like the flavor enough to vape it I will top it off with a compatible flavor - the flavors will mix and eventually become mostly the second flavor. So like a 555 sample - I might top it off with another tobacco juice or with a vanilla juice (which would make the 555 more and more vanilla). A plain tobacco or a good vanilla are good flavors for mixing with others.

I will vape a carto until the drag or the flavor are not enjoyable.

You also may be overfilling the carto. Blow through the threaded end into a tissue or a rag. If juice spits out, it was overfilled and the straw was clogged.
