The wife and I've been a pack/day smoker for 40 years. About 2 months ago I was hospitalized for what the Dr thought was a heart attack. Luckily it wasnt. The wife has COPD. So, we decided to quit smoking at the same time... it would never work for one of us to try. We grabbed a disposable ecig at the gas station and was pleasantly surprised! So we bought a 510 cigalike kit... a his-n-hers (we wanted something as close as possible to what we have spent years holding). A couple of bottles of juice and cartomizers, a few clearamizers, and we just love it. We now smoke 3 analogs/day... with the morning coffee, just before bed, and one some other time.

The first of the month we will order a his-n-hers eGo CE4+ starter kit, more clearamizers, carts, juice, etc. I can definatly see the appeal of vaping! We actualy find that when we smoke an analog that it just tastes nasty compared to the variety of flavors that juices offer. We will reduce the nic levels in the juice each month.

I have a feeling that this is becoming more than a cig replacement. This is becoming a hobby as well! Oh boy... another expensive hobby... LOL! But, its cheaper than smoking analogs. We keep finding stuff we want to try next, but it will have to be done in increments.

From what Ive been reading around the forums, this seems like a friendly bunch of folks! Thanx in advance for all the support and help!

Welcome to vaping. Your experience is very common; I too ended up in hospital before I discovered ecigs; I too started out with disposable ecigs and figured I could find a way to quit the smokeys.

Don't buy too much ejuice at once right now, your tastebuds are going to change over the next few months.

As a very ex two PAD 30 years smoker I salute both of you!

Quitting with e-cigs can be funny that way. For a big majority of us once you start vaping your smoking experience can and does turn on you and get nasty in short order. You are both very fortunate that that happened. In it's own way, smoking a cigarette now will be it's own worst negative reinforcement. You will give up those last couple few when you are ready. Look at it this way: As a 30 year smoker I didn't see a problem with taking 3 months to completely quit. Like you guys I didn't smoke very many as soon as I started vaping, but it did take some time to... I dunno, just completely get over my 30 relationship with them. Got down to my last cigarette in my last pack, smoked it - didn't enjoy it at all, and it was over. It was just time to stop buying any more.

Mornings were especially hard as far as cravings went. And for me - right before bed time for some odd reason. One thing to consider is getting the next higher nicotine level to deal with craving holes in the day. I used two different nic levels in my first four months or so of vaping and that helped a lot to deal with cravings.

That is an important tip for new vapers to keep in mind; unlike smoking you doing have to light up or waste a cig when 1 puff was all you needed; worth it to have more than 1 ecig available in different strengths; 1 high, 1 low.

I already have my shopping list put together for the first of the month... LOL! Ill be getting stuff from 4 different suppliers. I figured I mite want to try out different companies in order to get a feel for customer service, turn around time, etc. Parts from 2 of those, juice from 3 of them. I figured on a few extra coils, wicks, etc. Very curious to try various flavors. I also smoked a pipe so Im looking forward to trying RY4. Dying to try some of the sweet stuff too... Kahlua, cotton candy, black cherry...
