I am new to vaping (3 weeks now), and have been reading this forum to try to educate myself. I would like to thank whoever started this forum because it has helped a lot.

I first learned about e-cigs from a friend. I live in a very backwards state where vaping is pretty much unknown. There are no suppliers around except for the occasional Gucci sales and one called Randy's, which I hear is horrible. After doing some internet research I ordered a Prosmoke which I really liked. After using it for 3 weeks I find I'm having trouble regulating the flavor and consistency of the vapor and throat hit. I ordered some liquid from Liquid xpress and have been playing around with it some, but after reading this forum I've decided to also try other e-cigs. It seems kind of expensive to experiment, but I figure I'm saving so much money not buying analogs that I can afford it. Hopefully, I will settle into something soon.

I currently am awaiting the arrival of a 510 starter kit and an eGo starter kit. I've heard good things about them so I'm anxious to try them out.

I've also been reading up on some of the mods available. I am particularly interested in the box mods I've been seeing. I would be interested in hearing what others think about these as well as reliable places to buy them.

Welcome tigerlily!! Congrats on your choices for starter kits. Personally, I think you'll love the eGo so much that your 510 will sit around as a back-up.

Believe me, I know about living in a backwards state. I had two separate people (both smokers) who saw my PV and asked, "Is that one of those water cigarettes?"

Good luck and enjoy your new toys :)

You will love your ego! Good choice. As for the box MODs, I can't speak for suppliers on those...as I made my own. I really love the look of the wood ones! They are so pretty!! But I can't tell you how they perform. I use my direct feeder box mod when driving, it comes in very handy since I don't have to refill or anything. I use my other MODs around the house, camping, boating and such because those batteries last 15 -20 hours, a pass through while on the computer, and my ego when in social situations...my other 510's, from when I first started, just sit now for emergencies. Congrats on your new adventure! I am sure, over time, you will figure out what works best and tastes best for you. It took me a couple of months to get situated to what my own needs were. (make sure you get at least two batteries for your ego so you have one charged and ready all of the time).

I have an eGo 510 and I really love it. Once you get the hang of hitting a PV you will find this model is really great... good vapour production, good th, and I love the battery life on my eGo. I have read some about the box mods but am so happy with what I have right now that haven't really done much research on where to get them... although there is a thread on here (new members forum) somewhere about box mods and what people like about them. You just might have to scroll back through several pages of threads. I will try to find it for you.

Tigerlily, welcome. I'm an Okie, too.....Tulsa area. You will love the kits you bought....the eGo will be your main (probably) pv and the 510 will be backup batteries. Good choices....I have both, too. There are a few other Okla. vapers here.....and there's a vendor in Sand Springs....Vapor Kings. Anyway, where are you?

Welcome Tigerlily. Vaping and finding out precisely what works for you best, really is a journey of trial and error. Educating yourself as much as possible, as you are doing, is always helpful. But there are still going to be "errors" along the way. It may come in the form of ordering a juice that you hate, or a kit or e-cig that doesn't work out for you at all. But, along that learning process you will eventually arrive at what you are comfortable with and what works for you best. Without those "errors" along the way, none of us would ever learn what we ultimately want or need. So, in a sense, we can also be thankful for the errors.

I started with a kit I found in a local smoke shop, and that I paid entirely too much money for. When the smoke shop couldn't even provide me with refill cartridges for it after telling me they carried them when I bought the kit, I had to "move on". Next on my journey was the BluCig fiasco. Not a big problem though. Money spent/lesson learned.

From there, I moved on to a 510 kit. That was about the same time I had discovered this forum. The 510 was the first "success", even though that success was somewhat limited still. I knew I wouldn't be willing to continue refilling carts (or changing carts) and recharging batteries as much as I needed to for the 510 to work for me. So, I kept looking.

Next on my journey was the eGo. Finally! I had arrived, or so I thought. Though I was finally getting the battery life I wanted and not having to constantly change batteries, I was still having to contend with refilling my cartridges much too often. Even though I started out on the eGo with the Mega carts and attys right from the beginning, these still did not give me the kind of life I wanted. I was still spending too much time on refilling cartridges. But, I was learning. And that's what was important. Along the way, I had begun dabbling it DIY ejuices, figuring I could save even more money that way.

Next, I entered the arena of the Mod. I knew before I ever entered this arena, that only addressing the battery issue, and not the cart refilling issue, was not going to satisfy me. I had to find some way to also address the problem of frequent cart refilling. Thus, I knew that a self-feeding or bottom-feeder type of mod was going to be necessary, to eliminate the need for constant refilling of carts.

After researching as many of the mods that I could find out about, I began narrowing it down to 3 or 4 mods. On my "short list", were the REO and the REO Mini (both from REO's Mods | Home of the REO PV), and the Journeyman and the Ali'i (both from Welcome to R&R Manufacturing - Handcrafted Battery Box Mods). I started out with the REO Mini and have really been very pleased with that selection. However, it comes with a 3mL bottle and I wanted something with a larger juice bottle. So, I next purchased the Ali'i, which comes with a 6mL bottle. REO has since come out with a larger unit, the REO Grand, which also has a 6mL bottle and I've ordered one of those.

My journey is not over even though I have reached a place now that works for me very well, and fulfills all the requirements I have at this time. I also now make 95% of my own ejuice.

This journey began in July of this year, so I am relatively still very new at this. My initial costs I'm sure are more than I was paying for analogs. However, now that I have a "comfort zone" place, both with PV device(s) and juices, I am beginning to see my costs lowering considerably, to a level that will ultimately be far less than I had been paying for analogs.

It was good to see so many responses. JC, I am in the Tulsa area too. I will have to seek out the SS supplier you mentioned as I have been unable to find any other than the kiosk at Woodland Hills, which I didn't even consider.

Sponge Bob, I suspect my journey will be similar to yours. When I ordered my original starter kit, I ordered about 8 packs of carts, so I have plenty of empty carts which I refill about once a week. I believe this will get old after a while though, which is why I suspect I'll eventually try to look for a bottom feeder. The sites I've checked always seem to be out of stock though. I may have to convince my husband to make one for me. That is something that would be right up his alley.

Tigerlily. You are correct, in that those sites (reosmods or rnrmanufacturing) are always (almost) out of stock. There is a very good reason for why this is. Both of these outfits only accept orders at specific times. For reosmods, I know that he only accepts orders on Friday evenings at 7PM EST. And not necessarily every single Friday. He only accepts orders, once he has received adequate components in, and are ready for final assembly. He then accepts a quantity of orders equal to the parts he has in stock. RnR is about the same. The trick to catching either one of these sites during their open feeding frenzy, is to follow the threads for the announcement as to when the site will be open for orders, and then at that time attack the site with all frenzy and gusto to get your order in. LOL. Typically, this is only a matter of minutes. For example, last Friday when reosmods opened up for approximately 100 pieces of the new Reo Grand mod, it took about 20 minutes until they were all ordered and gone. I can tell you from personal experience, that 20 minutes tends to be on the longer end of how many minutes these units are typically available for. Good luck.

So I ordered my kits on Sunday...they were shipped on Monday. Kudos to the supplier. I've been tracking them...that's part of the fun, right? The kits originated in Wisconsin and were sent via usps ground. They drove right past my state and are now sitting in Arizona. They are no closer to me than they were when they left the supplier. What's up with the postal service? I'm thinking they need a lesson in geography.

Well, if it's true that patience is a virtue, I'll have to try being a little more virtuous.
