I purchased the Vapage Vmod XL a couple weeks ago (my 1st e-cig). First couple weeks I was just checking it out - going slow. Started off using the Vapage brand Strawberry e-juice (terrible stuff btw) and after a couple weeks started hitting the Vmod a little more and out of no where I developed a massive nose bleed. So much I thought I was gonna bleed out and die. Keep in mind I am 50 and have NEVER had a nose bleed. Not sure what the PG/VG ratio is for Vapage.

I then changed the e-juice to Copper Creek Cherry, 50/50 18mg. 12 hours later another massive nosebleed. At first I wasn't sure what caused it. I figured it was either my nasal cavity was dry from the AC, blood pressure, or the Vmod. Blood pressure is fine. I ruled out the AC and have since put a vaporizer in my room and am using Ayr Saline Nasal Mist daily. Didn't vape for 3 days and no more nose bleeds. I have since used (all while using the saline mist 2x/day) the Copper Creek Cherry some more, the Copper Creek House Blend, and their Pumpkin Pie, all 50/50 18mg. No nose bleeds but I noticed last night my throat was really dry and felt a lil' swollen. Btw, I have only used the Vapage AMG Hybrid bottom feed atomizer 1.5ohm.

So what's going on you think? Anyone else have this problem or heard of it? Am I allergic to PG? Or is the PG drying out my nasal cavity? I'm afraid if I stop using the nasal mist I will have another nose bleed. Should I maybe use a 100% VG - will that work with the Vmod XL? Or maybe a say 80VG/20PG? I really want to vape and quit analogs, but I can't take the nose bleeds. Please help if you can. Any and all advice would be appreciated.

e-Cigarettes with Dehydrate you. No ifs, ans or buts. You need to drink more Water (Not Soda, Coffee, Teas, etc - Just Water) when you use an e-Cigarette.

You might try 100% VG and see if things get better. I can't use High PG e-Liquids but I haven't had a Nose Bleed since that time I gave this guys's wife my phone number.

If you keep having Nose Bleeds, I would think about going to an Ear, Nose and Throat Doctor. Could be a sign of something else.

it might be because you live on mars...I don't know how pvs work up there
(sorry, smart mouths run in my family)

seriously, I am not sure but it might be because vaping dehydrates us. are you drinking lots of water? I did a search on the forum....maybe something in one of those threads might help you. I tend to get nosebleeds in the winter here (dryer air I guess)

So what happens when you use high PG e-liquids?

What are the disadvantages of using 100% VG?

I'm hoping an ENT won't be necessary - the nose bleeds have to be related to vaping. I will drink more plain water though.....although I usually drink mostly Crystal Light. Thanks for the tip!

That link doesn't work.

I drink lots of Crystal Light, but not much plain water.

I'm not sure what sweetener they use in Crystal Light but I've read that some (or maybe all) of the artificial sweeteners will dehydrate a person. I try to avoid all artificial sweeteners not only for that reason but it seems that they often are related to some serious health issues.

As I stated, I have no idea what sweetener is used in Crystal Light and this information could be pointless, but it's something to at least be aware of. Plain old water is always the best choice for hydration IMO (and that may be more than just opinion)

The slightly sore throat is normal I don't think its a PG allergy just drying out your throat with Vapor. I would say and Im no doctor Im just guessing You have a underlining condition that causes your noise bleeds and vaping aggravates it. You might want to run it buy your doctor next visit. Could be something as simple as dry nasal cavity or it could be something more serious. But for sure your body dosent just bleed for no reason so Id get it checked out.

When I use High PG e-Liquids I start to get a Scratchy Throat and a Dry Cough.

It’s that Cough like when you get a Piece of Popcorn stuck in your Throat and Coughing doesn’t work and Drinking Liquids Doesn’t help.

Some amount of PG is good because it Brings out the Flavor of an e-Liquid and helps it to be Thinner. And a Thinner e-Liquids works Better than a Thicker e-Liquid for just about every Atty/Carto.

100% e-Liquids tend to have Muted, Sweeter Flavors. They also have very Little TH. But VG Produces Most of the Vapor you see when you Exhale. For me, the first two are actually a Good Thing because I like Sweet and Don’t care about TH. And I want to see Lots of Vapor when I Exhale. It tells my Mind that I just got a Big Hit.

I like 30%PG : 70%VG. It’s a Nice Balance for me.

---

Not sure about Crystal Light but Many Sodas are Made with a Lot of High Fructose Corn Syrup (HFCS). HFCS cannot be directly used by the Body so it First must be turned into a Fat and stored for later use. And since HFCS is Much Cheaper than using a Natural Sweetener, The Soda Czars realized that they could Add Salt to Sodas and Mask it with HFCS.

So what you end up with is a Soda that Doesn’t provide much Direct Food Energy, because of the HFCS, and Doesn’t Quench your Thirst, because of the added Salt. The perfect drink if you want people to drink a lot of something.

Whereas Plain Water is Absorbed and Used by the Entire Body. It what the Body was Designed to use.

I plan to pick up some 100% VG liquids and also some 80/20 and 70/30 VG/PG fluids and see if that helps.

Crystal Light is a powder flavoring added to water. It contains Aspartame as the sweetener. No HFCS. I will start drinking more bottled water and see if that helps.

not sure why the link doesn't work. so just go to the top of any page, click on "advanced search" and put in nose bleed. you should get some results

Did another search. I guess I'm not the only one that has gotten nose bleeds. I'm thinking it's both dehydration and the PG. Sucks that I bought so much juice that is 50/50 or 70/30 PG/VG.

Your not completely out of Luck with the e-Liquids that you have bought.

Because if you like the Flavors, you could buy 100% VG inthe Same flavor and then Blend the New One with the Old One.

If you Blend 100% VG with equal parts 50%PG|50%Vg you'l end up with 25%PG|75%VG.

So hang onto your Old e-Liquids.

Thanks! That's awesome! Unfortunately I also bought 4 bottles from Backwoods Brew. Anyone recall what ratios they use? Their store is closed till Fri. I think they were 70/30 PG/VG and I'm pretty sure they don't offer other ratios? I guess I could mix them with another vendor's juice for a custom 'blend'. The flavors are Green Apple, Watermelon, Casablanca, Applewood. All 15ml - 18mg. I haven't tried them yet so I'm not sure if doctoring them up will even be necessary.

Yeah, Blending is a Great way to Save an e-Liquid that doesn't taste all that Great. Or to Change the Nicotine mg / PG:VG Ratios.

I'm not that Familar with BWB. Maybe Someone else can Chime in on them.

But I know that Green Apple goes well with Caramel.
And Watermelon goes Good with Pineapple or Cherry. Or Both.
