I need to vent a bit...

Been vaping about a month now, part time. The intent is to use it as a path to stop smoking my pipe, which I inhale (35+ years). So far the experience has been less than satisfying and downright frustrating in some respects.

Started with an eGo-T kit. The eGo "manual" is loosely translated from Chinese and printed so small I needed a magnifier. No biggie - it ain't rocket science. The vendor hooked me up with 3 bottles of what he thought a pipe smoker might like, and I filled up the tanks and proceeded to cough up a lung.

Back to the pipe...

Kept trying. After only a week the 2 atomizers tasted burnt. No warning in the manual about letting the tanks go dry. Swell.

Google led me here to ECF. On advice I picked up a couple of T3 clearos and spare coils. Made the mistake of dropping one... oops. So I bought a couple of the metal versions. These things work well until they don't.. gurgling and spitting nasty juice on my tounge. Ick.

Back to the pipe....

Bought some new juices and found a couple that I can ~almost~ inhale without dying. Been practicing holding the vapor in my mouth and letting it out my nose. Not really satisfying but slowly I'm getting the hang of it. Also picked up some mini clearos for sampling the various juices I've acquired. They gurgle and leak. Grrrr.

So I've traded my pipe, tobacco pouch and Zippo for...

... Atomizers, clearomizers, cartomizers, drip tips, batteries and chargers, bottles of juice, napkins, Q-tips, eyedroppers, syringes, and a tub of grain alcohol. My electronics bench is now a rewicking station for these stupid T3 gurglers.

I didn't want this to become another hobby.... juss wanna quit smoking. So far it ain't workin'.

Back to the pipe...

I dont know if this is any help or not but I went the cheap route. I bought my ego 650 battery from mister e liquid fro $15, bought CE4 clearos from fasttech ($8 for 6, but takes two weeks for shipping), and a battery charger from fasttech ($2) all for under $30. Then I bought several samples from heathers heavenly vapes ($10 for 3 3ml samples) and bought several 15ml bottles from mt baker for under $5 each. I did all of this after spending over $100 on blu's and volts with no success. Heathers is a little expensive and mt bakers is cheap but both are very good quality. They have numerous flavors, but I have read multiple times on here that it is almost impossible to find a juice that will taste like tobacco. I just went with menthols and other flavors that I liked to eat and so far it has worked.

Yes, vaping is more involved than smoking. Yes, there is a trial and error period before finding juice and equipment that is acceptable. Nonetheless, for me, getting off of cigarettes was well worth the minor inconveniences. I’m now at the point where I have a juice I actually like, equipment that functions with reasonable consistency, a couple of backup devices for when my main equipment fails, and a cleaning/filling routine that fits nicely into my day.

If you’re hell bent on finding reasons to go back to your pipe, the good news is you’ll have no problem finding them. However, if you stick with vaping, I’m fairly certain you’ll eventually find a combination that works.

I was worried when I first started also because I couldn't stop coughing the first few days and then I got used to it and no longer cough. This may sound like a strange question, but do you get bronchitis or pneumonia easily? The reason I ask is my mother-in-law is so the water vapors get into her lungs and she feels like she is dying. Talking to the local vape shop owner and her doctor they both said she may be the few out there that may not be able to vape. I wish you luck and know that it can be extremely frustrating in the beginning, but it is will worth it.

I started smoking by using a pipe. Ended up working for a high-end tobacconist - in many ways a wonderful time. Cigarettes, however became convenient and so the story goes. That being said, if you are a pipe smoker, you might want to consider one of the RBAs with an open draw. I find my Z-atty to be very "pipe like" in its draw and how I vape it. Try some of the juices from epipemods - hell, maybe try one of their pipes. My wife and I are so happy to get away from smoking and we are finding vaping can be a lot of (dare I say it?) fun! Good luck to you, keep trying!

You are just like m wife.you wantvsomething hastle free and easy to use right? You might want to put awaY all Your clearomizers and try some boge cartomizyers or smoktech cartos even a cartos tank once you get the hang of a cartomizers, witch is verry easy. With a cartomizer all you have to do is fill it and vape away, every puff will taste the same and no leaky mess. Also cartos seem to last longer than clearo heads do and they are easyer to replace. If my dainty Christian wife can learn to use a cartomizers tank with no fuss and love it, than i am shure anybody can do it lol. Most clearomizers will give you trouble right off the bat and gurgle and leak. Cartos dont have that problem.

Also dont try to look for an e juice that taste like your pipe or a tobacco you wont find it lol. Just try to find a juice that you think will taste good. For me its French vanella and ry4 i also use fruity flavors but always comeback to good old vanella and caramel.

Hope that helps you. Pick up a 5 pack of boge or smoktech cartomizers. 1.5 dual coil or 2 ohm standard you wont be dissapointed

edit. . . I second the above post go to e pipe mods and check them out! beautiful works of art! Real pipes converted to e pipes and e juice that is quality and as close as you can get to a real pipe flavor. Those e pipes are worth every penny i wish i could aford one myself.

When you get eliquid in your mouth, 9 times out of ten, it's due to your battery. I am not a fan of the fixed volt eGo's as they have the weakest voltage battery on the market at just 3.4 volts. Even the crappy stick batteries have 3.7 volt batteries.

If you want a PV that provides very good consistency, batteries that last 10 - 14 hours and can accept almost any atty/carto/clearo on the market, then look at the variable wattage Vamo for $39. You won't be getting eliquid in your mouth with this model and will reduce your frustration considerably. If you are not ready to step up to a VW model PV yet, then you might want to consider the Vapor4Life Zeus that I just saw a review on that impressed me (cigar size), although I have never used one myself.

Here is the review of the Vamo:

I've wondered about this. Sometimes it seems my fixed volt eGo battery just isn't putting out enough power - gurgling, low vapor, liquid in my mouth. So I'll switch over to a 510 stick battery and it seems to be better(with a full charge). I'd always assumed that my eGo(1100mAh) would perform better.

I think my eGo batts are knockoffs though, so the quality isn't the best. I'm seriously considering a VV battery at this point.

Instead of the fixed volt eGo, I use to always recommend the Kgo or E-Power in the same size category as the eGo because at least they had 3.7 volt batteries.

I don't recommend the eGo type VV either (Twist) due to their weak 2.5 amp switch that limits what head you can use on them.

There are just too many better options that actually cost less.

Ya know it's really funny, right now my $200 Provari with this really fancy RDA on it is set at 3.4v. (same voltage as an eGo) Point being that learning how to use what ya got is more important than what ya got. I can promise you that a 1.3ohm atty on a Vamo set at 9 watts will be at 3.4v. So trust me, it isn't your battery that is doing the gurgling.

And what would happen if you put a 1.5 ohm dual coil atty/carto on your eGo?? Smolder and burn. But hay, if a Provari, eGo and Vamo perform exactly the same from your point of view, just get whatever is cheapest.
