Greetings all,

I started vaping about 3 weeks ago. My nicotine background briefly: Heavy smoker till 2007 then quit because of a health scare. Turned out to be nothing but by the time I found that out I had quit smoking for a week and was on nicotine gum. Never went back to cigs however I have been hooked on the nicotine gum since then. Has not cost too much compared with tobacco cigs but still about $1000 a year for gum (12 pieces/day).

About a year and a half ago for whatever stupid reason I started smoking a pipe and before a month had passed I was inhaling it AND still doing the same level of gum. In any case I noticed by breathing was getting harder so I tried a drugstore Ecig and it worked! I have only had a couple of recreational pipe smokes in three weeks and only 2-3 pieces of nicotine gum per day. This past week I bought a Kanger EVOD 1100mah kit with a bottle of Johnson Creek Red Oak 24mg ejuice at a local vape shop. WOW! The throat hit is just as strong as inhaling off my pipe and it is quite satisfying.

The only thing I am noting is a mild irritation in my throat which I never got with the pipe. I am wondering is 24mg nicotine too strong for someone with my relatively moderate (recent) smoking background? Is it the nicotine that causes the irritation or possibly the glycol/glycerin base? or both? In any case my breathing is much better after only three weeks and I don't smell anymore. I'd be grateful for some feedback regarding my nicotine level/throat question. I plan to try some fruit/sweet flavors as well as sample bottles of each in lower nicotine level.

regards,
Bill

You may have a PG sensitivity. Try some 100% VG juice and see if that helps, or maybe just a lower % of PG will work for you. On higher PG my throat gets irritated too.

I would try out a couple of different juices to find out what works best for you. I doubt it has anything to do with the nicotine. It's the PG that usually causes a problem with irritation.

Good Luck and Congratulations on your progress!!

Thanks, I don't think I have a sensitivity to PG but then, I've never inhaled it before.

You can get 100% vg at a walmart or pharmacy, try adding a drop to your mix and see if that helps you may need to add another drop but do it a bit at a time it will do both things of reducing the nic level a bit and the pg level. I've had to do it with some of mine before. I have spare bottles to do this in but you can do it right in the tank / carto, just twist it back and forth between the palms of you hands till its mixed well.
