Not cutting it

So I have been vaping for well over a year now. First attempt to quit smoking was unsuccessful. Took a break, and been good for a few months now. My first pv was a Lavatube. It was not getting the job done. Had weak hits, cartos would separate from the bases in my pocket... The only good thing was the battery, lasted forever and it was a passthrough. Now I have an evod starter kit, and its nice. Much more solid, and durable design, gets a decent hit, battery kind of sucks. I find myself drawing hard until the safety kicks on. It is just not quite getting the job done. I have found juices that I really like, and have the nic strength at a good level.

I guess my actual question is... What would be a good upgrade from the EVOD? Dunno if I'm quite to the point where I want to customize my own avp.

Well, an advanced unit doesn't necessarily mean "customization". Depends on what you're talking about. I moved up to an Innokin VTR (like so: Innokin iTaste VTR) and it's as easy to use as EVODs with eGo batteries.

Easier in some respects. I found a wattage setting I like and almost never touch the controls.

Set up cost is a bit steeper than an eGo system but a good APV can last and the batteries are less expensive. An eGo battery runs upwards of $30. But a high capacity Efest like, oh, this one: Efest IMR 18650 LiMn 2500mAh Battery - Flat Top - 35 Amp is $12.50. 2500mAh is double where Twist and Spinners top out in capacity and the cost is half or less. So the long run cost of batteries should actually be less than using eGo's.

If EVODs aren't cutting it, you'll probably want something more powerful that can drive dual coil tanks. The difference is huge. Believe me. :)

And there are a number of good advanced units out there. The VTR is my favorite but there are quite a few good ones out there. The main thing being you're looking for more power and that's going to be an APV of some kind.

Sounds like you're going to need variable power to get the job done. I wasn't able to quit smoking until is moved to a variable power device, so I know how you feel.

They come in a TON of different styles... Do you know what you'd like? Tube shape? Box? General price range? That would help narrow it down to make the right recommendations for you.

I'd say get a hold of a decent regulated mod (VAMO, Evic, Sigelei, etc.) and venture into a Kayfun and rebuilding. It seems hard at first, but it's the simplest thing in the world. It takes me 5 minutes to make a coil for my Kayfun. Flavor is out of this world, and the throat hit is fantastic, I had to lower my nic from 18mg to 12mg because I got a nic buzz when I first vaped it. There's a bunch of informational videos on Youtube that'll show you step by step and tell you about safety regarding rebuilding. :)

I had the same experience with an ego starter kit, and after my lungs had adjusted to vaping was drawing on it till the cut out came in then press for another 10 seconds. By week 2 I had bought a protank 2 mini after going back to the shop and saying it was keeping me of the analogs but I wanted a better vapour hit. This was ok for a few weeks but I still wanted a better hit.
So after watching the 'indoor smokers' channel on you tube and seeing what all these devices did, I decided to get a VV/VW (variable voltage/variable wattage device. It seemed the easy way to get a decent vape. 4 months on and im still happy with the hits im getting.
Ive bought a few more tanks to play with and ive even bought a second VV/VW device to use as well.

I would suggest moving up to a VV/VW device these devices let you adjust the power going to the coils and produduce a lot more vapour.
This would be the natural progression without jumping straight into rebuildables and the like.

As to which VV/VW to get. Well it depends on budget and style.
If you are on a tight budget, the MVP 2 is a great box mod and is only $40 online if you look around, or their is the VV V3 a stick style battery that you can get for $25 online. both of these are made by Innokin.
If you want to spend more then there are lots to choose from. From the provari which is top of the line and is $200 +
Or a more reasonable mid price would be $60-100 for something like the vamo v5 or the VTR(the one that I first got), the Sigelei ZMAX, and there are a lot of others as well.
Why not spend a few hours looking at whats on this youtube channel and get an idea of what might suit you.

Start with 'the battle of the box mods' video, and search some of the others that get listed here to see what they are like.
Hope you find this useful.

I have a few higher end mods, including several ProVari's, a Semovar, etc. but I started 6 months ago with a couple eGo batteries and a few Kanger T3S clearomizers.

If I could go back and was not looking to spend a bundle I would start out with an eGo 650 or 900 C Twist and a couple of iTaste x.1's. I think something like this would do wonders for your, with the right e-juice.

Wife and I have been vaping for only 2 months and I went through the same as you. I didn't want to do a bunch of work and messing around (Though I have done some coil building) just wanted an easy to use, GOOD vape that satisfied my analog cravings.

Started with the Evod,(Which was great but lacked the true feel of smoking), then went with the Spinner 2 VV , (a lot better but just short of great), then after hours & hours of research & reviews I went with the iTaste MVP 2.0 which I just received Saturday. BINGO!!! This REALLY does the trick ... and EASY to use, and the battery last forever. Does the trick so well, that I just ordered another one for the wife. Works great with the iClear30 it came with ... but also works great with the Mini Pros 2's and the Evod tanks ... all for only $40.00 at 101Vape.
Innokin iTaste MVP V2.0 - 101 Vape QUICK Shipping too!!
BTW ... I smoked 2 PAD Regulars for 25 years and never thought I'd quit ... Guess I was wrong :toast: Hope this helps and DON'T Give up ... you'll find your perfect Vape too!!!

a battery, is a battery, is a battery. Not much difference except for how long between charges, A unit with variable watts/voltage would help. Then again I suppose my Provari is more reliable than my Vamo. More important, work on your delivery device. Had a friend that was not getting sufficient nicotine with a cheap clearomizer on 30 mg. I had an old vivi nova laying around that I gave him. He had to drop to 24 mg. You can do far better than a vivi nova for delivery.

probably time for an upgrade... I upgraded from an Ego to a SVD/RSST about 6 weeks after getting the ego/protank. If I upgrade again, its gonna be to a mech so I can learn about low ohm ( not sub ohm, even tho i tried it ). But for now, the SVD is making me happy

I just wanted to thank every one for their input. Went and got the MVP 2.0 with an Aspire Nautilus yesterday. Did some research on what I was looking for in a mod, and a tank. The carb on the nautilus really helps to get the hit I was looking for, and the MVP seems like a solid unit that will last me for quite some time. Running the 1.6 that came in it at 3.7v and I am a happy vaper.

Once again, thank you all for your input.

Vamo and kayfun (clone) setup here. I must say, the kayfun is EASY to build. I do not have much patience for coil building and I can build my coils with ease. The vamo is a great mod IMO. Price- good. Ease of use- good.
