Thank you, Megan, it is very generous of you to do this, and it'll help some folks out who are just getting feet wet in vaping. I really appreciate it.

By the way, you using the Rayon for wicking yet? It really does work . . . I'd switched to the Sheseido cotton pads, and it was an improvement over the cotton balls, but that Rayon stuff is better than that . . .

My current setup is an ego-c battery with a 2.0 ohm evod glass clearomizer.

More power to heat up the liquid? No.

A 2.0ohm atty on any battery at 4.00 volts gives you about 8 watts of vaping power!

If you had a more powerful battery/mod, you could set it at 6 volts and use a 4.5ohm coil/atty and you'd still get 8.00 watts.

It's all about matching up ohms and volts to give you the watts you want. A more powerful battery would require going up on the ohms of the atty/coil so as not to burn it up.

If you set that ego battery at 4.25V with a 2.0ohm coil in the clearo you'd be vaping at a full 9 watts, which would give you a burnt up taste/popped coil/too hot vape anyway.

You WILL get a better vape off a kayfun atty, or any RBA, than you will from a store bought coil though. The problem with clearos is that they mute taste, big time. It's not so much about power from battery, it's about the ability of your delivery device, the atty, to deliver a better vape.

That is what made me move to bottom feeders. I hate clearos.

I have the Koh Gen Do cotton but I actually really love the taste of cotton so haven't used the rayon yet...

Thanks for all the replies guys. All the coil heads I've used gave me the same results, no flavor, so I think you all are right about faulty heads. My dad is also using the same heads. He hasn't said anything about the flavor yet, but I can tell he isn't enjoying the vape experience either.

Go here:

Join CASAA (they do good work). PM me, and I'll send you a few coils built with micro-coils and rayon wicking. It'll up your game tremendously. They'll be brand new, I just pluck that dog of a coil Kanger puts in, put the micro in them, get'em firing right, then wick, chimney back in, and they'll be on there way.

We can't have a family member vaping on stock coils . . .
Wow, I'll shoot you a pm. Thanks for looking out for a greenhorn, Flavored!

I was in the same boat as you until I upgraded my devices. The flavors really opened up after that and by not using stock heads/coils. It wasn't until I ventured out and got a kayfun lite plus v2 that my world changed. Then eventually after that I got a reo. MIND BLOWN.

awww, such generosity :)

While you're waiting for your new and improved coils, you might try removing one of the flavor wicks from your existing coils, if you haven't tried that yet...this teeny change, can help (not as much as a better wrapped cotton coil will, but some).
Video - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3FQi3wZWpE4

I leave the coil in the base while removing the chimney...I think that makes it easier. Then take out the coil to fiddle with.

I was playing with the coil after I read your post. The flavor wick for the evod 2/glass is at the bottom instead of top like the original so it's a bit trickier to pull out. Either way, I pulled all the wick out. Planning to stuff it with some cotton and see how it goes.

I may be getting a kfl+ soon but it'd be a darn shame if I can't salvage these coils and make the taste worthwhile.

Ack! I've done that....I have ripped the whole coil out the bottom too, trying to get the chimney off.
As long as the coil's not futzed up though, it might be much improved w/a wee wisp of cotton.

Stealing a post b/c I'm too lazy to take my own pictures, even though I JUST did this...

Pull Some cotton off of the ball, you really don't need much:
View attachment 248054

Roll the cotton into a thin wick with one end tapered to make it easier to thread through the coil:
View attachment 248055

Thread through the coil until you encounter resistence enough to move the coil instead of sliding cotton through (this would be the time to make final adjustments to the coil if needed):
View attachment 248056

Trim Cotton:
View attachment 248057

Insert chimney and slide on rubber grommet:

At this point all you need to do is let it soak in a tank for a few minutes (doesn't take long with cotton) and enjoy the clean flavor of cotton.

Some side notes:

If you are getting gurgling or flooding at first give it some time before you consider adding any cotton flavor wicks to stop it, the cotton will expand as it completely soaks.

Do not over compress the cotton to get it small enough to thread in, if you do it will expand in the coil and can choke off some of the wicking causing dry hits and poor performance.

Never dry burn cotton, if flavor is tapering off do the following:

gently pull wick out of coil
dry burn coil (careful 32awg Kanthal will break if heated to much)
roll new wick with above technique
insert new wick
soak and vape

Edit: I realize the rubber grommet is not on the last pic but I do put it on and have not had any issues.

Hi, I recently purchased some betelgeuse, virus, and custard's last stand 2 weeks ago. I decided to try some betelgeuse first because I figured the other 2 would benefit from some steeping. To my surprise, I couldn't really taste anything. So I put it in my cabinet and let it steep for 2 weeks. Tried it out again but the flavor was one dimensional and subtle. I couldn't taste any raspberry, mango, pineapple, or pineapple. Every now and then I could taste a warm sugary sweetness but that's about it. So here I am for some insight!
My current setup is an ego-c battery with a 2.0 ohm evod glass clearomizer. I have a feeling that my setup just sucks because I've tried everything else (getting rid of vapor's tongue, changing atomizer heads, cleaning my tank, steeping). Perhaps I need more power to heat up the liquid, which my ego battery can't provide? Also I'm getting the itaste mvp 2 with a kayfun lite+ soon so I hope I'll be able to taste something then. Thoughts?

I haven't read the entirety of the thread, yet, but I wager you are in for a huge surprise when the KFL+ and the MVP show up. The MVP is a fantastic variable voltage device that delivered high quality power... and the KFL+ is KING when it comes to flavor if it's set up proper. Gun for about a 1.2-1.4ohm coil on that Kayfun, with 28gu Kanthal, and use ReadyXWick if you have some (Or cotton)... you're in for an awakening of sorts!

I started about a month ago. I don't think it has anything to do with my taste buds because I had juice from a different vendor and I could taste everything it was described to taste like. The one thing I changed before getting a hold of some nicoticket juice was my setup. Before, I was vaping with the standard atomizer that came with the ego-c starter kit. The flavor was quite nice on that atomizer. After all the juice ran out, I order some nicoticket juice along with a evod glass clearomizer. That's when the flavor just suddenly vanished. Leads me to conclude something is wrong with the setup I'm using

2.0ohm coils are sometimes designated as "Standard-Resistance" or SR. On an unregulated 3.7v battery it will give net about 7w of power... pretty low by most standards today. The simplest (and easiest) solution is to get "Low-Resistance" (LR) heads... usually in the 1.4ohm range or so. I recent saw some Sub-ohm stock coils for kanger units, been meaning to give them a try...

1.4 ohm build is what I'm aiming for! Thanks for looking out, Kent. I hope I'll be able to reach nirvana when my kayfun arrives, haha! Bought some 28gauge kanthal and a box of rayon cotton for $7.50 (a steal!) but that ReadyxWick looks like an amazing product. How's it fare with rayon cotton in terms of flavor? It looks so much easier to handle and maintain than cotton.

I'm not prepared to comment on the ReadyXWick on anything aside from the devices I have used it on... I have wicked 1 Kayfun with it, once... it's my "Boba's Rig"... I opted to use Boba's + ReadyX in the KFL+ because...

1) I love the flavor of Boba's in the KFL+ as compared to a dripper - and - all I have is BB in 12mg so I can't quite drip it.
2) Boba's is notoriously harsh on coils - fantastic liquid, but it's pretty well known that it tears up coils. My liquid isn't much better than "average" when it comes to build-up on coils, truthfully... Betelgeuse/Gravity/H1H1 might even qualify as being "rough" on coils... BUT - I wanted to load ReadyX because I like the prospect of dry-burning the buildup off the coil without having to remove and replace the cotton... I just take the silo off, burn burn burn, reload - and she vapes like a champ. From a convenience perspective, ReadyX is worth the time I have saved.
3) Although I don't vape the KFL+ / Boba's combo that often, I am still (after 2-3 weeks) on the same wick. I ran 2 tanks through before I felt like I needed to dry burn, and I am on my 4th tank now... expecting another burn when this tank is dry. I want to see how many tanks I can run through this wick without having to replace it.
4) Despite the fact that the coil that is in there is less than perfect, flavor is outstanding... there's no other plausible explanation aside from the wicking material. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE COTTON (in a dripper)... but in my (brief) experience with ReadyXWick (and, with the owner, which whom I have spoken on the phone)... it appears to be a quality product. Value is relative. I mean, if you are looking for a ultra cheap option that tastes good, and you don't mind yanking cotton every time you dry burn in the KFL+... cotton isn't bad. But, I think it's worth the investment in RxW, honestly... IF it lasts as long as it *should*, and performance doesn't diminish after a dozen or so dry burns... this stuff delivers.

As a sidebar - I struggled with the KFL+ until I got ReadyXWick so I really wanted to like it... I've didn't have success with the KFL with anything other than our fruit liquid until I ran ReadyX... and even then, due the fact that BG and G are so rough on coils, it was little more than a change-up because I had this lingering "in the back of my head" feeling that if I hit it hard, I would have to spend 20 minutes fiddling with the device, and I didn't want the hassle.

Well it was worth a shot, you could be correct. Perhaps some of the more experienced folks will chime in with some more thoughts. I've not had an evod clearo so I can't say, I use the Aspire ET-S bdc and have no issues at all with flavor as well as a handful of Smok RBC's and flavor is fine for me in all.
Hope you can get it figured out so you can truly enjoy these delicious juices.

FYI the BG juice for me is a mango primary, I don't get a ton of the other flavors just a hint on those.
sometimes i dont get the full range of the flavors either.. with ppl left right and 20 meters away smelling every fruit thats in it.. the evods mute the flavor big time but i get it on rba's and rda's too. flavor rotation fixes it usually for me.. when i chain it the flavor is lost on me.

I just put some of the BG VG in my reo mini and rm2 with 1.2 ohm's and I taste hardly anything! The first time I ever tried BG was with a protank on a MVP and it seemed the flavor was muted, so I've let it steep this long and was so excited to try it today and I still get just a hint of raspberry and that's it. Any thoughts??!! Born date 3-26-14

That's a tough one - right device - hard to mess up a coil in an RM2. I actually have some of that same bottle here (MAXVG BG) and the stuff is so flavorful I can't hit it for very long. Strange?

Same here in my Kayfun. The BG is so sweet and flavorful that I burn out on it quickly. I'll throw it in a tank once every couple of weeks when I feel that my other juices aren't "doing it" for me.
