Not in 'My Posts'

This is about the Specific Model VV thread. Like the LavaTube section thread.


ECF has changed things around and now any post that I leave in the Lavatube section does not show up in 'my post' link. Even if I start a new thread in that section... it still does not show up.

For those who don't know...click on 'Whats New' just below the ECF logo and then click on 'My Posts'.


It's very annoying. Is anyone else having this problem?

I'll look into it. The search is very straight forward and there is no reason why the lavatube sub forum should not show because the search doesn't have any exclusions.

I had OS2 make a test post in your thread and it is showing in his "my posts". Try clearing your cookies and cache and if that doesn't solve the issue let me know and I'll dig deeper.

Thanks. Not really sure what happened...all of the sudden all the Lavatube threads I have posted in the past are now back in 'My Posts'.

As far as clearing cookies and cache...I have my computer set to do that everytime I sign off the net. So not sure how it was fixed.

Nobody responded in the Lavatube sub forum (except you oldsoldier) so you can delete the duplicate thread in the LT section if need be. Maybe I'm the only one with this problem...which is now somehow fixed.

I have a similar problem with MyPosts since this morning. When i click this item i get the following message:
'connection to 10.0.0.6:9312 failed (errno=111, msg=Connection refused)'.
Does it have to do with the server upgrade? It worked well from Sunday till yesterday evening, although the messages in MyPost are not sorted on date anymore (but i saw a post of somebody already adressing that issue). But now i get this message.

Does it have to do with the server upgrade? It worked well from Sunday till yesterday evening, although the messages in MyPost are not sorted on date anymore (but i saw a post of somebody already adressing that issue). But now i get this message.

fingers crossed that this feature of vb will run smoothly sooner or later. for a lot of us it is the main venue to navigate ecf.

if i understood right, this cannot be changed atm - you can alleviate the problem by posting in all the threads most important to you. that's what i did to get the threads i'm watching on the first page. the sort order is now > your latest posts first ......

Well, if it cannot be changed this means the functionality of ECF has degraded. Why change a function of software that a lot of people are very pleased with, into one that almost everybody hates?
So again, please give us back the MyPost functionality how it was before. It was much better than this crappy list-sorted-on-your-latest-post. I want to see the latest changes on top of my list.

I'm not real thrilled about the issue with sorting either and I do not like the alternative. However sphinx search is far superior to the stock vB search engine and also gives you the ability to search in areas you did not have before, for example your PMs are now searchable, pictures and picture comments are searchable etc...

We may be able to work around this or we may have to wait for some type of patch to come out to sphinx. The vB community has overwhelmingly supported sphinx as the go to alternative to the really poorly implemented native search engine. Going back to the native search engine is not likely because of performance limitations and server load.

We'll keep our eyes open and see what happens. In the meantime I'm not going to ask Harry to change the MyPosts search because the issues with it are less hassle than the alternative.

as you can see, there is little hope of going back to the old ways unless adm will agree that superior search functions in sphinx do not compensate for the search going down as frequently as it has .....


to my way of thinking i would prefer the stability of the native, if poorly implemented, search engine. what good is improved function when the whole thing is down

now how to convince sarge and sj ..............

Actually only the search sort is related to sphinx. the rest is a hardware issue at the datacenter. The techs have to iron out some glitches and things should be okay after that.

I prefer having the latest replies on MyPosts on top of the list, in favor of being able to search through PMs, pictures and so on. If i look at what i use most, it's definitely the MyPosts list. I never had any need for searching through my PMs or pictures or whatever.
Anyway, the poorly implemented search engine never broke down at me.

We should put up a vote for this and let the community speak out for what functionality they find more important.

It's been doing the same thing today, after the server upgrade in the wee hours this morning....

yup! exchanging a faulty motherboard has had no effect on getting ''my posts'' back. i'm gonna give up for right now - without that functionality it is almost impossible to navigate ecf in timely manner.

The maintenance failed they'll have to try again tomorrow morning. Rather than keep the server down for an extended time futzing with it, the decision was made to reschedule.

The intermittent outages are an annoyance to heavy forum users, staff included -- but affect the less heavy users much less.

tibs the problem here is not my posts directly. The reason my posts fails is the hardware id failing and the server is rebooting. First we fix the rebooting issue -- then we repair my posts not loading correctly after the hardware recovery. It is splitting hairs, but an important distinction so people understand what is going on.
