I've read many posts on cleaning atomizers, clearomizers, coils, battery connections etc. but does anyone have any good advice on cleaning / polishing the outside of EC, (the tank and battery cover).

When I'm out and about, my EC can get pretty grubby with finger prints, oil and other things. I like to keep my kit as clean as possible, (esp the drip tips... they go in my mouth... ). I have so far been using a little pure water on a paper towel to wipe my EC down at the end of the day. But recently I'm considering using Rubbing Alcohol to wipe everything down, both cleaning it AND giving it a nice polished, shiny look.

What I want to know is, how do you it and what do you use?

I ask this because I'm of course afraid of going over board and giving it a corrosive effect, both on the metal and plastic.

Any advice?

I use :
Vision Spinners / Clearomizers
MVP2 / Protank 2

Thanks! :)

Rubbing Alcohol will work fine to clean it off.

the metal parts a light buffing with a clean soft cotton rag (or old undershirts) and a tiny tiny bit of mineral oil will give it that polish you want.

BUT!!!! I would just go with the micro fiber cloth and no solvents on the metal, after a quick clean n dry with Isopropyl (rubbing) Alcohol.

For my atomizers and metal drip tips, I'll soak them in cheap vodka from CVS for a few hours, then rinse with tap water before laying them out on a towel to air dry.

I have two stainless steel Nemesis mechanical mods that I'll polish with NEVR-DULL which also takes out minor scratches and works perfectly. I'll also use 91% isopropyl alcohol (also from CVS) to clean the battery contacts on them.

I use a few micro fiber towels to wipe down everything during cleaning and in between cleanings. I'm pretty sure you'll want to stay away from using alcohol on anything but metal as it can breakdown and/or strip the material(s).

I don't see any reason to keep the battery in pristine condition but I push a q-tip into the drip tip and give it a good wipe with alcohol pads once a day. And I take apart my pro tank II and run it in warm water every time I change coils. If I see the battery is getting grubby, I just do a quick wipe down with alcohol pads.

I have a touch of OCD and it is nearly impossible for me to have something "clean enough" so I go in the opposite direction. Rather than clean and polish my brass I scuffed it up with a scotch brite and used liver of sulfur to give it a patina. Since I am going for a used patina any imperfections are a plus. Those beautifully polished finger print attracting stainless steel mods, hit them with a wire brush and you have a matte finish that doesn't show fingerprints. I own a yellow plastic mod that is topped by an atty that I painted, poorly, in a color to almost match.

Embrace the chaos.
