I have been vaping off/on for 3 years, been analog free the entire time.

Up until 3 weeks ago I have always been able to taste all my juices (to varying degree's). My dna 40 and kayfun v4 clone were stolen out of my vehicle while at work. After I replaced them, I am just unable to achieve any type of build that gives me ANY flavor. Figured it was fatigue, but after going to a vape bar today and using their sample atty's I've come to the conclusion I am doing some incorrect.

My setup:
iStick 30w
Kayfun v4 Clone (Tobeco)
26G A1 Kanthal micro coil 1.1 resistance (have tried .5 .8 1.0 1.4)
Muji cotton
Various juices.

Always vaped at 12.5w with no problems and some flavor.

Now I just cant seem to taste any the juices in my setup. The samples at the lounge tasted great, lots of flavor. So what the hell am I doing wrong?

*Edit, guess I should add, that I have never been able to achieve the flavor that the people on Youtube tout about with all the crazy nuances. I usually just get a hint of the flavor and a sweet taste.

I am by no means a master, barely a novice when it comes to builds, and I can probably assume that you have already thought about this. But in learning how to wick ive been trying varying amounts of cotton to try a figure out what works the best and ive found that when there is way too much or way too little cotton then the flavor profile goes way down.

You can get vaper's tongue at any point, not just when making the switch from smoking to vaping. I've been vaping for over 3 years myself and still get it occasionally. I believe it is partially due to flavor saturation (fatigue) from using the same flavor consistently.

I'll suggest to drink plenty of water. Keep up good oral hygiene. Use a non-prescription medicated oral rinse like Biotene. Change up your flavors frequently. Exhale through your nose as your sense of smell assists your sense of taste.

This situation will be temporary and will eventually pass.

I have experienced vapers tongue many time's through the course of use. Typically though I am unable to taste any juice but menthol's and strong cinnamon's when that happens. It always goes away in a few days though. With this I can taste other people's juice just not the ones I put in my setup.

Thanks for the reply

When you got the new KFv4 did you wash it? If not some oil residue could be muting the flavour.

Also try going up a couple of watts. I was happily tootlepuffing my KFv4 at 9.5w for weeks when suddenly all my juices tasted off. It was so bad I through some out thinking they had gone off.

Out of desperation I up'd the watts to 13.5 and the flavour was bang on. I can't explain it, but I'm now happily vaping again.

You tested the same exact flavor with the exact variables (same pg/vg ratio, nic level) at the lounge, but on a different setup, and could taste the flavor?

I've experienced flavor fatigue and sucks when you have favorites. If the same variables are used then it can't be that. I also notice a huge drop-off in flavor if I don't stay on top of my re-wicking/re-coiling, and I never get more than a week out of my mods that use pre-built coils. They still work great, but the loss in flavor is noticeable, especially with the dessert flavors. You may have sensitive taste buds.

Kayfun was boiled thoroughly all oils removed (been to cheap to buy a ultrasonic cleaner)

Tried upping the watts no change, up to 18watts after that it burns lol

variables were not exact... just used their evod twists with CE4's think is what he was using for sample tanks, could taste the flavor dead on. Came home cleaned kayfun, recoiled, re-wicked (snug cotton, not to tight, not to lose, tips touching deck but not blocking channels) threw in juice I just bought and no flavor. (bottle was made on 5/21/15 so figure that is plenty of steeping time even in a sealed bottle? not sure on steeping never really done it.

Have not tried a RDA, but I'll dig out my Marquis later and see what it does. Was not a fan of dripping, to messy, to much fuss (did I mention I am extremely lazy?)

IF its flavor fatigue its the oddest form of it I have ever had.

I'm not a Fan of the "act" of Dripping either but have found them to give the best Flavor-Cloud Combo by far. That's why I look for and own RDAs with at least a 5-6mm Deep-Well.
Plus can swap Juices often with little to no issue at all.
Lazy? NO. You just prefer to Vape more than you do Work for it.
Heck that ain't Lazy-That's Smart.

They are definitely great for flavor, when i can taste it that is lol

Pretty sure I can build a coil on my kayfun faster than any of the drippers I've owned (Marquis, and Veritas).
Far as flavor change, I usually just vape the tank dry, insert new flavor and vape through the bleed over. Or I'll re-wick, do a quick tank rinse and vape on! (Weekend work shifts are reserved for full tank cleaning and re-coiling)

Right Here
Simple, go huff some coffee beans then vape some cheapo mint flavored juice for 2 days. Return to a new coil, wick in your kayfun and if it still is muted, go to the best shop you can get to. Tip the dudes/ets some cash and try their setups. If after trying many other setups, you still cant taste anything then you need a tongue transplant. They are half off this month in India I hear.

I have had similar issues, changing flavor has been the best fix for me.

I would say that either you have your voltage turned up to high , or way to low. Also it's probably worth the mention, the lounge is sampling @ 0%nic strength. The higher the nicotine level in your juice, the more it changes the flavor and the more burn you will feel. Hope you get this figured out!
