I started vaping about a month ago but was still smoking maybe 2 or 3 a day for a while then after a few weeks i was down to 1 but have now not had a cigarette for 5 days.
The only problem is that the ry4 that i loved now doesn't really taste very nice. i have tried using fresh cartos but they taste even worse. do new cartos have primer on them that is giving the bad taste or do they just need breaking in? i didn't have a problem to start with that i can remember.
I think maybe my taste is starting to come back after not smoking and maybe the juices i liked are not really very nice.
i'm thinking of having a cigarette now just to see if that tastes any better.:(

It's more likely your tastebuds than the cartos. It sometimes happens that people go through a day or two where everything either tastes like nothing or tastes bad. it does pass. Try using the strongest flavor you have, a menthol, mint, or cinnamon can help get you through it. In a few days the ry4 will probably taste fine again.

Congrats on your first 5 days smoke-free!

Don't give up! Keep trying new flavors. Maybe get an atomizer to taste test with so you don't have to fill cartos and possibly toss them if you hate the flavor. Also make sure you're filling your cartos completely up when you do use them...the bad taste may be filler burning inside the carto. Do you know what brand of carto you're using?

i'm using boge cartos, i condom fill them then drip into the top to make sure then leave for a while and drip in to the top again.
The same cartos were fine a few days ago.
the new one i used was left overnight before i tried it this morning.

I'm going to second, third, and fourth everyone else that you may just need a change in set-up. If you can afford it, buy a bunch of sample packs of juice from different vendors (they're usually not too pricey anyway). Bianca is right, try to get some atomizers to taste test. Brush your teeth 8 times a day (or use lots of mouth wash) and drink a lot of water! I know that sounds silly, but you'd be amazed at how different things can taste after a meal/snack. Juices can also change quite a bit over time, and not always for the better. If it's the same exact bottle of RY4 you have, it may have changed to the point that you don't like it quite the same as fresh, just because taste is so subjective and sensitive. Don't give up. There's also a chance you have some wonky cartos. As much as it would be wonderful if every carto we got worked perfectly the first go (or second or third), I have gotten 5-packs of Boges in which three of the five didn't work right. You can bet I contacted the vendor, but my point is it happens. In general, I would highly recommend having a back-up to your normal vaping "style," i.e., you seem to like cartos but should probably have an extra atty or two on hand just for a change of pace. It can make a huge difference.

well i have just ordered a pick and mix of different juices to try but in the mean time i will try dripping once i sort out my atty, i only have one and i think it might need cleaning because it tastes burnt. i might try soaking it overnight then dry burning it (is that how you do it?)
I have tried ce2's as well but didn't really get on with them, they tasted burnt out of the box so i had to clean, dry burn and cut them to make them work but they still weren't great tasting and they leak if you don't keep them upright.
maybe i do need more water as well, i drink gallons of coffee all day and hardly any water.

Just put a paper towel around the threaded end of your atty and blow throught the open end to get the primer out. I don't like dry burning, it just adds to the burning wicking problem and makes things worse IMO. Blow it out and put in 5 drops...if it's still burnt tasting on the first hit, put in another drop. Hope it clears it up. There is a break in period with attys...just keep trying. :) You'll only get a few to several hits before you have to re-drip.

Tastes do change. I never smoked for the taste, they probably stopped tasting great 20 years ago. I knew one I liked from one I didn't but it was less about the taste and more about the addiction and habit. Remind yourself of all the great things vaping is doing for you and taste might become less important. You are getting the nicotine.

Three months into vaping, this is happening to me. I went through the "ick" period where my tastebuds were adjusting, lasted about two days, and everything just tasted off. Well, two days ago, I broke down and had about half a cig (very stressed out), and yesterday everything tasted horrible again. It's definitely your tastebuds adjusting to not being abused with nastyness. Give it a while and it'll pass, and keep brushing your teeth.

Swed is right. If at first you don't succeed...

..... and moan until it gets better. :D

No I'm kidding, really. It will get better. I've been vaping for almost a year to the day and I still have spells where things just don't taste "right." Put down your PV for as long as you can stand and let everything right itself!
