My husband paid for my e-cig kit. It was shipped last night from VFL. He was very annoyed he had to use his credit card and couldn't use Paypal.
I also placed a small order with Backwoods Brew using my own credit card.
I just checked the Yahoo email account I used for the orders. I had a spam e-mail claiming to be from DHL.
The English was very bad and said if I wanted my tracking info I needed download an attachment (yeah right).
Opinions please, was this just an unfortunate coincidence or should I contact V4L and Backwoods Brew?
My husband will have a cow if fraudulent charges end up on his credit card.
I actually had this happen to me once and It wasn't such a big deal. Bank Of America let someone in Eastern Europe buy $2300 worth of computer equipment using my credit card. I had to sign a piece of paper stating I didn't make the charges. I stopped doing business with both BOA and the company that didn't protect my info.
Has anyone had fraudulent charge made to their credit cards after placing an order with a ecig vendor?
Anyone using Yahoo email get the same goofy message from "DHL" in their spam box today?
I don't know where to post this.
mods please move this message to the appropriate part of the forum as you see fit.

I have never had a problem with any of the vendors that I've purchased from although I have not used the vendors you mentioned. Vendors listed at the bottom of the forum are considered to be some of the best so I would just keep an eye on things but you shouldn't have a problem. That being said there are some ecigs scams out there (not by vendors listed) so just becareful
The reason you can't use paypal is because paypal won't allow purchases for ecigs :(
Congratulations on your new adventure into Vaping

What is VFL? I buy from V4L and Backwoods Brew a LOT and have never gotten any spam on the email account.

So if you mean V4L I have never had a problem with either of those. I use a gmail account anyway, not my normal email. It's an email account I only use for ecig purchases and for signing up to comment on news/blog sites. No spam.

I have a ton of spam on my other email account I never use for ecig stuff just because I have used that account for over 10 years.

I'm betting it's a coincidence. Try not to worry, but just watch your credit cards. Maybe go to V4L and BWB and pull up your account and see if there's a tracking number there yet. Did you get an email from V4L or BWB saying your stuff had been shipped? They'll usually give you a tracking number in an email.

Watch your cards and don't worry. It'll be okay. What is DHL? Anybody know? (Or does everybody know but me?)

Thanks for the replies.
Was probably just spam . If it were just my card I wouldn't worry so much as I've been through it before. Hubby is vary paranoid. Don't want him to regret buying me my kit. I told him about Paypal's policy about e-cigs.
Bet they'd have no problem if he ordered $$$$ of porn.
I feel pretty confident about V4L as they are mentioned here a lot.
Just wondered if I should give someone somewhere a "heads up" about this.
Thanks again.

I got a tracking # today from V4L. Haven't heard from BWB yet.
DHL doesn't even deliver where I live. They left this area a couple of years ago when the economy tanked.

Message looked like it was from Nigerian scammers/spammeres. I've a friend who's had 3 Yahoo accounts hijacked by them.
It's a bit nerve wracking to get a message like that when you just placed orders with small internet vendors.

P.S. DHL is a delivery company like Fed Ex and UPS. They drive yellow trucks with a red/orange stripe.

Ah, the ole DHL or UPS scam mail:glare:. Cookiebun, it's just a coincidence. Those type emails are scammer and hackers that are either attempting to infest your computer with viruses or phishing. They're sent out everyday to millions of email addresses. Look into adjusting the Spam Catcher on your email account either through the program you are using or with your Internet service provider and that should take care of most of those pesky emails. NOTE: After doing this, look through your "Junkmail" folder every now and then because a few good emails may be sent there.

It was in my junk mail folder.
Of course, Yahoo sent the e-mails from ECF, V4L and BWB to the junk mail folder too.
I'd never seen this one, most of the spam I get is from China. Got a phishing e-mail once from Malaysia claiming my credit card statement was ready. Looked pretty authentic. I reported it to my bank.
Yahoo does dump a lot of legit e-mail in to my spam folder on that account.
