So I just got into this vaping thing. Cigarette free now for two weeks.

Pretty heavy vaping going on, going to switch to 3 nicotine content.

I have some questions about about gear.

To start I picked up the kanger subtank mini. Used that for a week, the tank leaked (I realize now I probably overtightened it) then picked up an aspire triton. It came with two atomizers, a 0.4ohm and a 1.8ohm.

After about a week the 0.4 didn't seem to be putting out any vapor. (Is that too fast?)

I changed the 1.8 in and the taste is pretty horrible at the 50w settings I was using with the 0.4ohm.
I thought that the higher ohm would require more wattage to power a 1.8ohm? But I can't get something that tastes decent with anything higher than 25w.

What are the next things I should look into upgrading? Power unit? Battery? What are the benefits?

Thanks all!

You said heavy vaping. I'm going yo go on a limb and suggest you're pulling like a fiend to offset your desire for a cigarette.

Completely normal.

That will end your atomizers sooner rather than later.

As far as flavour, your taste buds still need to recover and repair from the tobacco. Yoiu may also have vapours tongue from excessive use. Drink lots of water to help the tissues repair and to offset the excessive hygroscopic elements going in your mouth.

I think you should focus on staying tobacco free for the next month. Week 2 and 3 is when most fall off the wagon and back into smoking.

Congratulations on your lifestyle change.

At .4 I may be at 40-60w and at 1.8 maybe 15-25w. Exactly the opposite of the way it seems. A lot will depend on what you want your equipment to do. What are your goals? Giant clouds, flavor, etc etc. Personally I would just focus on the next month being smoke free. Trust me you are just looking for equipment changes to supplement your cravings. It will pass.
Personally I have never had any luck with Kanger coils. I seem to kill them rather quickly

Basically I've found the higher the resistance the lower the power..
And lower the resistance the higher the power needed..just the opposite of what you stated...
50w sounds way too hot for a 1.8 ohm coil..about 20-25w max is all that's probly needed..
Now 50w should be just about right for a .4 ohm coil..but it still can be a little hot..dont know for sure. I run my .2 coil in the Arctic at 60-65w (its rated up to 100w)
I also run the .25 ohm coil in the Maganus at 55-60w, both with good clouds and flavor..
Read what the recommended power ratings are for the coil your using..the people who made the coil knows best on power settings ..good luck!

Hi and welcome to the board, not to mention 'gratz on getting off the sticks. At two weeks in, don't get in a hurry to cut you nic any more. I went back to cigs for a while because I did. In the 2-3 week range, you're in the danger zone; the time when a lot of people give up. I wouldn't cut nic any more unless and until you are getting a headache from too much or you are past a month or three and fairly sure you won't go back. If you really want to, go ahead, but keep a spare tank handy with some high-nic juice you can hit if you get cravings. You are probably chain vaping to satisfy the smoking urge, you burn out coils pretty fast that way. Get some more .4s and replace. You have the wattage requirement backwards; use lower power for higher Ohm coils. You don't mention what kind of battery/mod you are using, just you tanks. It's hard to advise you, but you say 50 watts, and that is usually enough power for most people except for deep subohm or complex and massive coil builds. To keep the flavor up, drink a lot of water-- a lot of water-- to stay hydrated and switch flavors often. I usually do two or three times a day. Consider, in the future, moving to a dripper for at-home use. A dripper built for flavor usually outperforms most tanks in the flavor regime. I mostly use tanks for out and about and drip at home nowadays. You don't necessarily have to learn to coil it immediately. Your local vape shop will coil it for you for a fee and that will last a while. You can pull in your own wicks easily. A dripper is very easy to wick compared to a tank because you just drop the juice on it, it doesn't have to perform the complex air-over-vacuum function the wick does in a tank.

Well, honestly I'm just a huge nerd that likes to tinker and customize things. So like everything else in my life I'd like to learn more about the tech surrounding this vaping stuff and turn it into a hobby. Can anyone explain the math between ohms and the wattage reading on power unit?

HELP!!! I hope I am in the right place. First time using this, and first time user. I have an eGo-V v3. It has been working fine. I added new juice to it, screwed it back together, and now all I'm getting is a flashing light on the battery saying "Lo". It won't turn off or on by pressing the button 5 times. I have no idea what is wrong or how to fix it. Can someone help me please?

1: "After about a week the 0.4 didn't seem to be putting out any vapor. (Is that too fast?)"
No.
1 day would be fast.

2: "I changed the 1.8 in and the taste is pretty horrible at the 50w settings I was using with the 0.4ohm."
Different coils run at different wattages.
Sometimes the wattage is printed on the coil.

3: You can't determine what wattage a coil will work at by knowing the ohms alone, but generally speaking, high wattage coils are made with thicker wire and with multiple coils, and therefore end up being lower ohms.

Does it need charging.

Sounds like it's not making contact, or the coil is bad. Check the center pin on the battery, if you have a different coil to try, you might swap them out too.

Could be you need a new coil ..if a coil gets gunked up it could go down in resistance, below what your mod can fire it..(flashing light)...I'd try another coil/tank and see if that works... Good luck!
