What a crock of____! Do they know for sure.........NO! I am living proof that e-cigs are better for me than analogs. I have also cut my nic content down from24 to 6 in a year and I don't crave a e-cig like I didn analogs. And what harmful chemicals are in e-cigs? Nothing compared to analogs, that's for sure, why don't they outlaw them?

I wrote to the author:

The only inaccuracy I saw in your article was this quote:

"I think that a lot of people who are promoting e-cigarettes say that it is a safer alternative but there is no evidence to suggest that it is," said Dr. Jonathan Whiteson of NYU Langone Medical Center. "As of now, we see it as delivering pure nicotine which is a dangerous drug in itself and it can cause people to become addicted to nicotine. So this is not a product sold to help people come away from cigarettes. It is a product that is sold to addict people to nicotine."

If e-cigarettes delivered “pure nicotine” the users would all be dead. E-cigarette liquid contains between 0 and 3.6% nicotine (in a cartridge that only holds from ½ to 1 ml of liquid. Each ml. of liquid produces about 300 puffs. Dr. Murray Laugesen delivered a poster presentation at the Dublin conference of the Society for Research on Nicotine and tobacco.

He stated:

“Nicotine dose (Figure 2): An e-cigarette user will need to take more puffs more often, and deeper puffs confer no advantage for v8 users. Six puffs every 5 minutes would deliver the same dose of nicotine delivered by shallow inhaling (10 puffs of 35 mL per puff) from one tobacco cigarette every hour, but would not achieve the high immediate nicotine boost which many smokers crave. Nicotine overdose is unlikely, even though nicotine delivery may vary between brands.”

E-cigarettes are being marketed to people who already use nicotine. Several surveys show that the average consumer has smoked for many years and tried repeatedly to quit before switching to an e-cigarette. So e-cigarettes ARE being used by those who want to quit inhaling smoke, with very high levels of success.

Over 90% of consumers report that their health has improved and none have reported that their health has become worse since switching.

If e-cigarettes were sold with the purpose of addicting people to nicotine, they would need to raise blood levels of nicotine rapidly. Vansickel et al. reported that this is not the case.

So, I offer the above information in hopes that it might help you in writing future articles. I am seeing that many medical people have not bothered to read the research and are making statements that are totally unsupported by facts and evidence.

My doctor, who is a D.O. mind you, meaning that he went to school for an additional four years on top of his M.D. - went absolutely bonkers with enthusiasm when I told him I had switched to vaping. I asked if he thought it would be in anyway harmful, his response was "More harmful than turning your lungs into useless charcoal? Doubtful. If you've got to do one or the other, do the e-cig hands down."

So, this Dr. Jonathan Whiteson been on TV before slamming e-cigs:

Electronic Cigarettes: Are They Safe? - CBS News

He's not even a pulmonologist, a oncologist or a cardiologist: He's an physiatrist, a occupational therapist.

Apparently, he's the go-to quack the NY TV media call when they need some filler (my opinion.)

As for the reporter, she has some things to learn about journalistic objectiveness. I've been a journalist for many years and all of my editors would have had my...hindend... in a sling if I ever turned in a piece like that. Then again, it probably was just what her editors asked for. Sellouts.

My doctor is a D.O. as well and had the same response as well.
I even demonstrated my ecig for him and gave him some ECF cards.

NY1 is a joke in general . Its the most low budget new channel there is . If you watch for 5 minutes you see them make 5 mistakes or forget the words . They cant even get a sports score right . lol

This lady Linda Rosenthal is a ...... about everything she does .

How could they start trying to ban something they absolutely nothing about . A newb here that just joined the same day knows more than they do . These articles never mention that lots of people that have been vaping for over a year are now vaping 0 nic juice

It gets me so mad . Im seriously tired of this country trying to ban everything they can think of .I seriously wish i lived back in the good ol times when people could do whatever they wanted with THEIR body.Even if ecigs were bad which they are not i really dont give a crap since it will always be better than analogs and cause its MY body .If you want to ban it let them ban it from their body not MINE

Soon im gonna buy a huge stock of ecigs and whatever else i want that the gov wont let me have and go find myself a deserted island to live on lol .Maybe even start my own little america thats democratic and free on thus island lol .

I even demonstrated my ecig for him and gave him some ECF cards.

Last time I saw my regular care doctor, an Internal Specialist, he asked if I was still using the e-cig. I told him "Yes." Then he asked, "When are you going to give it up?".

"As soon as I no longer need to be able to pay attention, concentrate, and think," I told him. His jaw dropped and he asked no more questions.

On the other hand, the doctor who treated my husband's throat cancer was absolutely delighted when he learned about e-cigs and even went out and bought one for a colleague who has been trying to quit smoking for decades.

I've posted this before, in the health section, but I think it bears repeating as it's on topic here: My vascular surgeon, who follows me for atherosclerosis/peripheral vascular disease, was absolutely delighted to learn I was vaping. He knows it was definitely the smoking/carbon monoxide that was slowly killing me all those years I smoked (contributing to the atherosclerosis), not the nicotine!

So does the FDA and the ANTZ, but they'll never freely admit it.
