NZ TV Reporter needs London Vapers

Hello everyone,

A New Zealand TV reporter named Gill Higgins is coming to the UK in August. Part of her remit is to produce a report about vaping in the workplace and pubs in England, so that it can be contrasted with the vaping scene in Australia.

I have had some contact with her under the Campaign for vaping in Pubs banner via email. Here is her latest email to me;

Dear Russell
It looks like the best date would be Thursday 26th August.
I’m presuming we’ll need to film in the evening?
However, if you know anyone who’s allowed to use e-cigs at work, I’d love to film with them there.
Please let me know how many people we might be able to get together and whereabouts we’ll film.
Also, I’d like to focus on one or two people who are good talkers and have a good story to tell about switching to e-cigs.
Would that be you? Might be good as you’re trying to establish the vaping pubs?
Then perhaps someone who can vape at work?
Would need to do interviews with the two of you and get extra pix of the two of you .. then have the group of you altogether at the pub, and ideally talk to the landlord there.
Wait to hear back from you with info and any other questions…

I would appreciate it if somebody from the London area could help organise this, as I live in Barnsley and I am unlikely even to attend. It could be a great opportunity to get some good publicity for e-cigs and vaping.

It's a good job that nobody was out there - the reporter has had to switch plans on that date to cover something more newsworthy - shame BUT as nobody seemed interested in it anyway, it's no great loss then eh?

Rusty, so sorry I missed this & even more sorry to hear the reporter had to switch plans I'm a bit of a hermit so find it hard to get to somewhere like London, but surprised others weren't interested.

Pity, as I vape in the office in a Local Authority in NW London.

Not sure if they would have allowed filming in the work place either.

I do admire your efforts Ruster, unfortunately Vapers are too few and far between ...... plus many seem to think that fighting using pixels will be more effective than fighting in person ......

Still, it goes to show how fickle the Media is ...... maybe this Journo realised there wasn't much mileage to be gained ...... or perhaps someone whispered in her ear that pursuing this story would be a bad idea for her career !!
