I have a Tobh Atty atomizer, dual coil and 3.7 volt Li-ion batteries, 2600mAh.
It stopped firing. After two hours of troubleshooting, I found out something odd:
The mod won't fire if the threads of the battery compartment are twisted all the way into the top parts.
I have to put the battery in and BARELY in screw that piece, so the threads barely hold on. Then it fires perfectly.
My charger is fine, the batteries are fine, the coils are perfect and the disk that goes on the bottom of the battery is fine as well.
Anybody hear of anything like this before? I'm temporarily 2,500 miles away from where I bought the thing, and that store, as well as any other mod shop I've been to have never heard of this problem before.
Thanks to anyone who replies.

Hello Ultra-Veteran Bob. This is my first mod, so I'm learning as I go. I just contacted the guys where I bought it, and waiting to hear back from them.
I'll post again to confirm I got everything worked out.
Thanks.

HISTORY TO THE MOD:
1. Eon (very crap)
2. Blu (worthless)
3. Green Smoke (Aaaarrrrrrrrg! Some of the carts were burning out before the initial juice was gone. That meant no refilling. )
4. Kanger Pro Tank with eGo batt (sick of rebuilding the atty's)
5. The Mod

Mr. Plumber:
I'm going to attempt a pic upload. Feel free to laugh when I say that it looks like I have generic batteries and that I have no idea if it has a protection circuit. Then there's the fact that I have no idea what I'm supposed to check for regarding Bob's reply. I have noticed that one of the side screws on the double-coil atty is a little wiggly.

In my defense, I am very good with a multimeter and can easily rebuild Kanger Mini ProTank attys. The problem is that every time I get a new setup, there's this annoying learning curve. I start off at the bottom of the food chain each time.

That, and I just got some 6mg Hookafina juice while out of town, and there's no nicotine in it. Translation: my mod week hasn't been spectacular.

Use process of elimination.

Using multimeter

Check for continuity and resistance on your atty.

Check for continuity and voltage on your mod.

If both check out, the the problem is probably with the connection between your atty and mod.

Hope this helps.

p.s. you might post a picture of the 510 connection on your mod.

After reading the suggestions and tips above, I realize there's way more troubleshooting involved with these than simply checking batt integrity and messing with the kanthal/ohms. Call me dumb, but looking at the parts individually, this mod seemed simpler than my former eGo/ProTank setup.

BTW, I had a shock yesterday when I walked into a highly rated smoke shop and knew more about ecigs than the guy behind the counter. I was actually teaching him things. That's why I'm on this forum. You guys helped me work through my ProTank issues... now I guess I'm going to be reading through mod info.

Looks like a hybrid to me.

By the way I don't understand your description of the problem.

So far all I can figure out is it seems to be a hybrid system, and it works if you don't screw it all the way in.

There are center pin adjustment screws; not sure if that has anything to do with the problem but it's something you might want to fiddle with.

If it works when you screw it in a little bit, but not when you screw it in all the way, the first thing I would look at would be the threading. Is there something going on with the lower threads (of the hybrid connection or the atty) that is blocking the flow of electricity? Perhaps the mod got too hot and the insulator melted into the lower threading? Perhaps it's just dirty and needs a good scrubbing?

If all else fails see if you can try another atty, if it works you've isolated the problem.... If not, see if you can find another hybrid cap to test with.

Troubleshooting is simply a process of elimination.

Thank you all for your advice. It has helped me figure out how much more I need to learn. Here's the final diagnosis:

I finally made it back to NY and had the guy look at the setup he sold me. He said the batteries were bad. I told him they were acting up from the day I bought them, and he didn't believe me when I reminded him that I had expressed concern about the batteries the day I bought them. He then went back to surfing the internet and ignored me and any other questions I had. So he lost a customer.

There was a regular customer sitting at the "bar" and offered to look at the mod. Here's what he told me:
1. The batteries were definitely crapping out... way too early for how much I've used the mod, IMO.
2. The threads might had been dirty. He wiped off everything, magnets and all.
3. My coil rebuild wasn't great, which means I had been shown the wrong place to set them in the atty. He built new coils and suggested I look at more YouTube videos, especially ones specific to my atty.
4. I was loading the cotton the way I was shown initially, but it was wrong. Got that taken care of.

So I finally got the mod working the way it should have been working from the start. I'm now going to learn more and find another store. As for advanced technical information, I'm definitely posting here in the future if I need to. You guys know so much more than anyone I've talked to in numerous e-cig shops.

Humbly,
-LH
