So i wake up this morning and this :
5132-hornet-1.jpg

was in between my inside and outside window of my balcony , I opened the outside window completely and now 1 hour later its not there anymore . This picture is exactly what that thing looked like and google says this is a Asian Giant Hornet and yes the thing that I saw was pretty big , as big as a bumble bee . The problem is that these things should not be in canada . And yes every detail in the picture is the exact same from the black head to the stripes to the legs and antennas all the way to its wings , its the exact same . Now I am scared to death to open my window even I dont see anymore .

Not to get political, but this kind of thing is what really convinced me that climate change is an ongoing problem. New Mexico and southern Colorado is losing a large percentage of our pine forests just because the winters are not cold enough long enough to freeze out the pine bark beetle larva over the winter. Things that can migrate do; those that can't suffer or die.

ATTENTION:

I'm not an entemologist, but that is NOT a giant hornet.
What you have there looks pretty non-threatening.
Consult your local agricultural extension office (or the Canadian equivalent) for identification of the critter.
Open them windows! It's nice up there!
When you figure out what it is, post it. We're curious!

If you see these, RUN!
THIS is the evil Japanese giant hornet:

I see these all the time. They are pretty docile. Scary looking and big, but non-aggressive.
Don't go pokin' at them...

Hey @miro011
Are you positive it wasn't a cicada killer? We get them down here in Texas and they are nasty.

But then again, most everything down here can either sting, bite, maim, or gore you.
