Well I guess its happy Mincemeat Day!!!!!!!!!!

National Mincemeat Day (or Mince Meat Day)

When : Always October 26th

National Mincemeat Day celebrates a sweet and tasty meat treat. For those of us that have had it before, we can revel in the great taste. For those of us who have never heard of Mincemeat, don't you think today would be a good time to get introduced to it!?

Mincemeat dates back to medieval times. It was a way to preserve food. It was also a treat, mixed with sweet fruits. Somewhere in the last half of the 1900's, it lost it's popularity. A whole generation has grown up, not knowing what it is, or having ever tasted it. Today, it is most often served as Minced Meat Pie. Over the years, the amount of meat in the recipes was reduced. In older recipes, you will find meat and/or suet among the ingredients. More modern recipes, it contains little or no meat, and is largely a fruity pie. It remains a traditional pie at Thanksgiving for many families.

So, just what is mincemeat? It is a mixture of minced (or chopped up) meats, suet, and fruits. The meat is usually beef, either ground up or sirloin. Fruits include raisins, apples pear, and others. Sometimes liquor is added, most commonly brandy or rum.

It's easy to enjoy this day...... have a slice of Mincemeat Pie. Then, you will most definitely have a happy National Mincemeat Day !!

Ever made mincemeat out of somebody? No, don't answer that. Don't want your past coming back to haunt you.

You know when we moved to Florida for a while I applied at the Sheriff's Office working in the garage on the cop cars. I went in and after the 3rd written application in 2 hours later they then sat me down with this human lie detector. He asked me that same question, along with about 600 others. What a joke, you would think I was applying to be in the Secret Service or something.

Happy Tell A Story Day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Tell a Story Day

When :

United States: Always April 27th

Scotland and England: National Tell a Story Day is October 27th

Tell a Story Day celebrates story-telling of all kinds. It doesn't matter if its fiction or non-fiction, a tall tale, or folk lore. Today is a day to tell 'em all. Stories can be from a book, other written material, or from memory.

Our research discovered two distinct holidays, one in the U.S. The other is in Scotland and the UK. The latter is by far more prominent and organized. These two holidays are exactly six months apart.

Libraries celebrate this day with story telling hours for kids. You can enjoy today telling stories to your kids, family members, or organizations and groups that you belong to.

Make Tell a Story Day an important and pleasure-filled experience. To enhance the enjoyment of the story, try setting the atmosphere. If it's an eerie or spooky story, turn down the lights. Bring decorations and memorabilia that speak to the theme. If its about a person, display a picture of the individual.
