As for now, I've stepped in to take over as PIF moderator. It saddens me to have to do so, but I refuse to let PIF go without doing something about it.

I've no intention of changing mod line ups. I've not as of yet spoken to them, but hopefully Clumsy and GD will stay on.

For now, things need to/will continue BAU. I'll need a little time to get things in order, and suss out some things that will need to be attended to.

I hope this doesn't deter anyone from participating in PIF, and certainly hope people "quit". We need to bring back the spirit of PIF quick, fast, and in a hurry.

I will state this, as of right now, I have no more info than you do on the unfolding of recent events, and it is probably better that it stays this way. I have my suspicions, and they will stay to myself.

Glad to see you stepped up. This whole thing is so sad.
I'm wondering, is it possible for a mod to have to approve people joining? I know it would slow things up a bit, but perhaps having a short questionnaire for new people to answer why they want to join and agree to abide by rules would help out. Just a thought.

As awesome of an idea this is, I'll simply not make this one alone. Let me talk to the other mods (if there are any, I've not heard from either yet). I'd also like to know what PIF thinks about this :)

I need to stress one thing however. I currently work 4pm to 4am Monday thru Saturday, and I've got a new baby in the house. So I will need people to help "police" themselves for the time being until things settle. I will try my best to get PIF back to what it used to be, but for that, EVERYONE will have to be involved. The mods aren't the blood and soul of PIF, YOU GUYS ARE!!!! Never forget that :)

No offense meant but I really don't see what that would do other than put even more responsibility on to those "in charge".

Anyone can know how to answer the questions the "right way" in order to get in whether they are being honest or not.

Then tack on to that the fact that if anyone does do something "shady" once approved then you're going to have members blaming the mods for approving the person in the first place.

And while debating the idea I would say that everyone who responds about it should first think of it like this....

What if it became a requirement that everyone already in the group had to leave the group and then take the questionnaire and get approved to get back in?

How would any of you feel if you didn't get back in because it was judged solely on the basis of the questionnaire and not your past "performance" in the group?

Just food for thought.

Just food for thought.

Good points, and the biggest part of why I wouldn't dare make a decision like this alone :)

the problem with setting the group up to have to approve people is then it becomes what do you set as a qualification to approve or deny....and thinking that that could keep out people that should be here or need to be here...

perhaps...and I hate to say this (and it will probably not be popular) but perhaps we should look at closing the PIF specific thread..it's mostly become a swap and not in the truest sense of PIF....keep the need, want, and swap threads...but take a cold hard look at the PIF thread and if it really fits the group...(or even rename the thread to something more appropriate)....of course the Co-ops should continue but as has already been determined...not so many at once...and I know it may suck but it should be looked at standardizing shipping for those (ie..flat rate boxes) that way shipping is a fixed known and the supplies themselves are free...(example 30 people order...all of them pay the same shipping...pick up 30 of the free boxes at the PO....and the mail carrier will pick them up at your house...it takes away alot of the PITA part (even though yes I realize some will pay $5 shipping for 1 or 2 little items)...

If you work that many hours and have a new baby dont you think you might be taking on a bit too much. Jules was here a lot and if this thread could police itself why did she have to put in so many hours. I think yous hould really be thinking harder. The option for someone to take over was not up for very long after we all herd the news and we are so in shock and saddened that others who have more time on their hands may not have been able to put their name in the box. No offense at all.
